X5 ambient lights not working !!!

Hi Guys I have 2014 x5 f15 and I recently discovered the ambient lights are not working on the all four doors . the only light what I can see is the lights on the dash.

Has anyone faced this issue ?? I tried reading on the net but no luck so far.
Any one knows how to fix the issue ???

Maybe you don’t have them fitted.

It could be due to a break in the circuitry.
Example: while swapping door trim, I forgot to plug in the rear driver’s side ambient light. Later that night I noticed that only the driver’s door ambient lights are working. When I removed the driver’s side rear panel I immediately noticed that the plug wasn’t connected and plugged it in. All four doors worked as soon as I plugged that one in.
Or a fuse?

First thing I would check are the fuse.

Hi Buddy them came standard and they were working when I picked the car 2 years back ..
I dont drive in night much and I also have other cars so it was not noticed recently .

I haven't opened anything the car is as standard as it is.

It just doesn't work .

if the fuse goes will the computer pick up on the issue ?

How do we check the fuse as it has many.... do we have specific fuse for ambient lighting ?

Any information will be helpful.

I believe you can enable/disable ambient lighting in iDrive, have you checked the lighting section for this possibility?

Otherwise, check your fuses as several of us have stated.

Just did a 6WB retrofit and all of the ambient light is not working except for the lighting on the passengers side dash

The small strip of light on the drivers side past the cluster as well as the strips on all the doors does not illuminate.

I did notice one wire not plugged into anywhere after installing the new cluster but did not see where it could be plugged into.

Any thoughts?

You don't really need ambient lighting. I would ignore it.

I don't think it's about needing it, it's just nice to have working properly if your car is equipped.

Hello.
I had the same problem!
I took her to the service shop!
Lighting is done in sequence!
If someone has a door problem is not light and the others doors!
All doors should be opened and the cables and plugs checked!
There they changed two plugs and a couple of cables and everything was fine!
However this is BMW, there is nothing surprising!

Sorry but if I'm driving a brand new $76,000 car I would like for all of the features to work

In any case, I dont think its wiring in the door. At this point I believe a wire may have gotten unplugged during the cluster installation or it is a coding issue

Do you go under the driver side dash at all during your installation ? If that courtesy light is unplugged (or even loose) then you will loose half of your lighting.

Thanks everyone for your responses.

I just solved the problem. When I was swapping out my original cluster it seems that one of the Ambient Lighting power cables got disconnected (I attached a photo showing it).

Popped it back in and now everything is working perfectly =)

Hi, I have this exact same issue. Where is the connector in the photo located? The dealer has just replaced the passenger side microphone so I suspect they have disturbed a connector

I just purchased a 2008 X5 SD.

All the ambient light works except the passenger side.

Do these lights fail or is it just a case of maybe not connected, as I hant window tint fitted and they remove the trim to do that.

Odds are quite good that they did not reconnect after tinting.
