That’s really the norm now with any fuel, most have at least 10% ethanol, up in the Northeast that what we have too. I think I heard that Shell vpower has 93 with no ethanol.

But as you have mentioned above, Ethanol is a highly corrosive chemical that can eat through a lot of things along the fuel delivery system. While it is true that BMW sold in North America will take fuels with up to 10 percent Ethanol, but who knows if we are really getting no more than 10%. I prefer to be safe than sorry so I am sticking with No Ethanol fuel. Also ethanol has less energy content than gasoline, and I have detailed fuel mileage records from my past 3 cars and see at least 1 MPG better fuel economy with ethanol free gas. Last reason, for my daily drive, I do hope the tune can put slightly less stress on my stock drivetrain, just for inner tranquility. |

As for corrosive, look on the other forums where people are running 50% ethanol on stock fuel system with no problems. I can speak from my history, I ran full e85 which is about e75 in my area for 3 years on my old 335 with no issues. Ethanol will not corrode the fuel system, perhaps in 10 or 15 years but not anytime soon. |

So I bit the bullet and ordered Dragy from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I will post 0-60 0-100 100-200 1/4 60' etc - finally we'll be able to tell real difference between let's say 91 octane and race fuel etc. Dragy claims identical to Vbox results. Down to 0.1sec and even to 0.01sec using different algorithms. At least it will be as accurate as it gets for a DIY tests. It will also record elevations, temperature, graph of acceleration, elevation, ET, etc. Most importantly results will be consistent. |

Going in 3-4 hours. It's too damn hot. And I can guarantee you I'm royally screwed. Just searched Density Altitude calculator and I got 87% relative density - meaning weather is robbing me 13% of air. Also, I've read somewhere that every 10F above 60 degree is robbing you 1% of power. So I'm robbed 4-5% - that's about 24whp!
Also, I have 91 octane for this run (no 93 in AZ) while my tune is made for 93. So coupled with temperature - it means ignition will be heavily retarded. I'll post my 14.5 sec 1/4 run soon I guess - and even that is if I'm lucky. |

Ok, so keep in mind this is crappy 91 octane (my tune is for 93) on a 100F weather (it's like a dry sauna here even at night). This DOES affect turbos and performance
Slight uphill 0.7% with shifter to the left in Sport mode (but not manual shifting) and torque braking to 2500rpm. I recently erased my Sport+ mode (when I was doing remote coding session) so I don't have Launch Control anymore. Also, my gear limiters were reset back to stock - so it sucks, I can feel the car been slower a bit. Pathetic 12.54sec @ 110mph |

Anyway, more to come. I plan:
1. I'll prepare my own 93 mixing 91 and 100 octane. We'll see what Stage 1 can do with the fuel it's supposed to run on. 2. Will do 100 octane run - to see what's the max I can get out of it. Goal is to break 11.99sec 3. Will try to run when temperature will get down to maybe 80s - but I don't think that will happen here soon lol. Damn it I'm losing a lot due to temps. 4. Will try to disconnect TC (transfer case) plug to make it RWD lol. Maybe that will affect 1/4? 5. I can then return to my previous setup with weight reduction (lighter battery, removed seats with 1 driver sport seat - just to see how much it can go in 1/4 lol) 6. Further tune (either Bpc or BM3) to increase psi up to 20-21psi (currently I'm at 18psi max). P.S. I also forgot to let it run above 130mph - to get 60-130, but I'll try to do it on next run. 0-60 from the same run (it allows you to choose separately different specs after you are done with your 1/4 run): 4.35sec - what can you expect with crappy 91 and 100F?

No bad #’s considering your fuel and the super hot temps. Don’t unplug tc that will definitely effect your #’s negatively as you will have no traction with all the torque, but you would have a nice drifting suv.

DuSh,
You may want to check into this... https://boostane.com/ I am going to run this full time in my 600 ++ rwhp Roush. I did a lot of research and it looks very promising. Quote:

Lol I got initial ooomph at 1.4g acceleration (yellow graph). A free falling acceleration is 1g. That's probably due to the AWD hook. Still 60ft 1.94sec needs improving.

Firstly, when car is cold or just warmed up - I get no surges on WOT or 1/4 runs (even on crappy 91 octane). Maybe it's because turbos are not overheated yet and everything is free of heat soak. As soon as I drive a lot and engine gets hot - I get surges on WOT. However that is on 91 octane (with my tune made for 93) - which leads for second thing I noticed. Secondly, I just made this morning 93 mix (from 91 and 100 octane) and with 93 I got no surges even when engine is hot. So maybe octane level and tune has something to do with it, I don't know yet. I also haven't changed my plugs to a step colder ones - maybe that's a 3rd variable we need to check. Easiest way to tell will be when I will also try to unplug TC (transfer case plug) and do a WOT run with 91 octane on a hot car. If I get no surges - it will be indicating it's bad TC, but if I'll still get same surges - then it's definitely not TC. I looked under the car and I can see TC, but the plug is like 4 inches behind and above the cover plate that covers TC. Maybe I can go to local shop to raise it - hopefully I can explain indy mechanics to just unplug it. I'm just afraid that with this liability thing they might not want to do it (same thing like I had with spacers lol). I'll get that done one way or another - will just take some time. |
