What I paid for my X5 (diplomat sales)

Here is what I paid. Wanted to share it with the forum members. I am not looking forward to the state tax once I return to the USA but I think I got a great deal.

64 for all that? Nicely done, I think it's a great deal. Although I am not sure how much taxes you will have to pay. Is it going to be sales tax on top of local taxes? You may be looking at over $6k?

About $8k more than what I paid for a similar build.

Still not as bad as Singapore where it costs 3x US, and Australia is not too far behind Singapore.

Not to mention our friends in the UK and EU (Fog in Channel Continent Cut Off) who are 20-30% higher than US.

I just built one on bmwusa with his packages and unless I missed something, it has an MSRP of $70,050. Are you claiming you got almost $13,000 (18%) off of MSRP?

Seems the OP got the car right around Invoice + the destination & handling (and D&H seems about 350 higher than the normal $950). That's a decent price. Not the best, far from the worst deal.

I'm looking into Dip sales also. Do you have comparisons to what it would cost if the same was purchased off dip sales?

The MSRP straight off BMWUSA.com for the OP's build shows 70,050. The discount he got seems in line with what you should expect to pay through normal negotiations. I suspect it was just that much easier, being already discounted. Basically, he got US pricing (and discount) while he's abroad. OP, correct me if I'm wrong there..

Sorry, still not sure what you're trying to say… you first said you paid $8,000 less than the OP for a similar build. That would mean about 57k or so for a sticker around 70k (OP paid 64k + 1300 D&H then subtract your 8k, thus my question, as that would be an insane discount). Then you said 3k less than a build for a completely different model (diesel), with a bunch of extra options (i.e. not very similar build) to the tune of an extra $7k in MSRP. Maybe it's just me, but I think what you think you're saying and what I'm reading are two different things lol. Sorry if I'm missing something..

correction, I left off the comfort rear seats, MSRP on bmwusa.com is 70,550, not 70,050 for the OP's build. If Edmunds' invoice price is accurate, that puts him just a couple hundred over invoice, which is a good deal, albeit one that can be had without the diplomatic pricing he got.

No. You read correctly. Poor typo in my post #5 above ....I paid about $8k more for a similar build.

Ok that makes more sense lol. Thanks. But your MSRP was almost $7k higher, so sounds like you both did well.

Tax

Hopefully I only pay state tax and not federal and state. I know it differs on state to state. This purchase was through the military overseas program.
