Yes if it says that in the sports display it should mean you already have it... but to really know I say floor it at the next light!

Can the MPPK be piggybacked with the BMS Stage 1?

MPPK and MPGs

So basically, I'm sold on the MPPK. I'm purchasing the x5 M sport drive 35i for my wife next month. How much did the Mppk affect your fuel/mpg economy. I know you probably drive more spirited than my wife. But I will drive the X5 often as well. If there is major impact on mpg I may skip it. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks

According to the official BMW document for MPPK

– Comparable consumption despite higher performance.
Fuel consumption and emissions levels in the ECE
driving cycle correspond to those of the series engine, even
though the M Performance Power Kit boosts the engine's
performance by an additional 6.66%

See attached for source.

For me.. I have not seen any difference in fuel consumption without and with MPPK. I also have RCU piggybacked as well.

Just know that you lose towing capacity with mppk. Not sure why but maybe torque band changes.

Kzang, is the MPPK + RCU still doing it for you? Any reason why I shouldn't do the same? The racechip has been great for me but I am teetering on the fence about doubling up with the MPPK.

Most definitely! Get the Mppk.. you won't be disappointed at the additional power and torque. You will be driving a SUV 0-60 in the low 5 seconds. The thing about the mppk is that the throttle response is also affected whereas on the rcu alone it does not. At least to me.

GIANITALY did you read this thread? The information you are looking for is in here. Anyway you get as per the description from getbmwparts.com

"Genuine BMW F15 X5 M Performance Power Kit - 35i/iX only. The M Performance Power kit unleashes greater power and torque from the third generation X5 xDrive35i. An additional 20 horsepower and 32 ft/lb are added when retrofitting this power kit along with sharper accelerator calibration for increased response and acceleration."

Lot of people including myself think this is underrated because 1. BMW is notorious about being conservative with heir numbers and 2. decreasing the 0-60 mph from 6.1 second ( Stock ) to 5.6 seconds ( MPPK installed ) IMO would need more power than stated.
Unfortunately, no one has successfully dynoed their X5 stock and then with MPPK installed to know the actual gains. Your sports dial is not accurate so I wouldn't get too excited about what numbers you get from your sprints.

OK.....

So I took my RaceChip Ultimate out (what a pain in the A$$) for a visit to the dealer for service. I have had the car back since Thursday and I am trying to figure out if the MPPK alone is good enough.

I had the RaceChip first for about 9 months before I installed in MPPK and it was like wow this is perfect having them stacked....even though I could tell that the MPPK install was the more significant of the two (including the sound of the engine).

Now I am thinking.....is the car driving the same (or close) as when they were both installed or is the MPPK good enough? I just can't seem to remember.

I am sure others with both installed have done this. Thoughts? Should I put the RaceChip back in? Is the MPPK sufficient from your opinion?

Put it back on. There is no such thing as enough power.

When I remove the RCU before a service, I can feel immediately the loss in power and the crispness of the shifts. I have my RCU set on D setting.

Agreed... 35i guys get the MPPK/RCU, 50i guys get the RCU and Dinan, X5M guys are also adding RCU and now Dinan air intakes.

That was easy. How quickly we forget.....the shifting was way more aggressive with the RCU.

Must have been that 328i loaner that made me a bit delusional.

Thanks.......

Is Dinan not an option for the 35i?

What's the difference between the Dinan and RCU?

@Spitula, Dinan IS an option but it comes at a cost ... approx $1950. But, Dinan will cover any warranty work should BMW deny any repair work cuz of their "tune," generally speaking. Dinan and RCU are piggyback system. There's plenty of threads here about their similarities/differences. I suggest you read up and decide for yourself. RCU is a cheaper option but no warranty. JB4 is also another tune out there. MPPK is another option or an ECU flash. At least half a dozen options out there. It boils down to what is important to you.

Neuera09 and Spitula Dinan actually has a cheaper piggyback tune at $300 msrp http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1281258 and this one does not offer any sort of factory warranty.
