Installed JL Sub/Amp Today

I had my shop install a new JL ProWedge CS110LG-TW3 today along with a JL XD 600 amp I had in my last SUV. The amp was mounted right under the OEM amp which made it easy to tap the factory sub feeds for signal. To secure the box to the driver side trim, I had them use flat stock and carpet it. Then I supplied a ceiling flange painted black, a piece of 3/8" threaded rod, and a black metal knob. (Cost about $8 on Amazon...) So, instead of it being permanently secured, the knob can be screwed off and the box moved to gain access to the spare tire and batteries. Lastly, I had them install my amp's remote control knob in the dash under the ignition. Came out very clean and I can't believe something less than 5" deep can put out this kind of sound. Simply amazing upgrade to the factory system.

Sounds AMAZING. No signal processor needed at all. Just a simple PAC lineout converter. I can't believe how well it fills all the gaps in the factory system. And, with the remote control knob I can tailor it to any source as they all need different amounts of gain.

looks pretty cool, I've been thinking about adding something like this for additional bass extension.

Thanks, I was really hoping for a hidden option but it seems impossible. Every hidden space on these vehicles is full. I did read here where a member had an installer do the previous generation JL StealthBox in an F15. They had to relocate the accessory battery and downsize it to fit it's new home along with grinding out all it's mounts. Not what I wanted to do in a brand new car. So, I sucked it up and lost my 5" of cargo space to keep the project from going nuclear...

It is a great approach, and if you ever need to haul something big you can easily remove it. The knob idea is genius!

Thanks much! I don't anticipate removing it often but if I get a flat and need to get to my spare, it's a twist of a knob. The installer was going to use to screws to secure the strap to the box before I came up with the knob idea. Sure I could keep a Phillips head screw driver in the car to do this but for $6 in parts, I think this was the better setup...

Have any of you mounted it in the spar tire space and than closed the cover? Does it mufffle the sound ? Or just as good ? I was gonna do amp rack and 12 in jl micro box in the spar well ? But depending On doing what he did above just don’t want to loss trunk space? Any ideas or what have others done. I really don’t want to cut any holes in the initial factory floor

How does it sound? Is it muffled with the bass coming from under the cargo cover?

Yup. I used spare tire space. Fully concealed and sounds great. I used a 12" sub with knob.

What did the setup cost to do this for both of you? I’m really leaning on doing this in the spare tire area but really worried about the vibration of the cover over it. I had a local shop quote me $2200 for the amp, sub like this, bass knob, instal.

Shop around and do your research. The install cost me around 250 and that's with high gauge wiring. The amp I looked on Facebook marketplace and someone was selling brand new with high discount same with sub. I ordered the jl knob from crutchfield. The harness I got with the Loc from technicpnp. I think all in all little over 900. And you don't really get much vibration from cover there is enough space between cover and sub with grill. I have a 12" as well.

Old thread, but when you installed the JL amp, did you have to move the other oem amo or readjust it in anyway? I got the same set up you have siting around for years brand new and I'm thinking of installing it.
