Grrrr - it's still at the 'left plant but in process of being delivered to logistics partner'. So not at sea - I'm sure it's been more than two weeks at this stage!

The same way I always do - by oversubscribing to this forum and now (eek) back into detailing world. This means my wallet is getting lighter and lighter already...

I too have what sounds like an identical vehicle on its way, estimated middle of June.... Though 8 can’t track it. I’m guessing there aren’t a load of ships full of X5s and ours are next to each other?

Excited.......

Sweet. Is your spec actually identical? What are the odds?

Almost, I haven’t got the matrix headlights...

I only bought mine last week and dealer had already ordered it so didn’t have chance to add anything. But was such a good price I couldn’t say no.

Was offered 24% off if cash but this is 0% so not quite as good but still way better than the deal I was offered for a 30D.

Mid-June eta, so guessing with yours? Can’t wait... My MY07 E90 is getting a little tired.... Should have changed years ago!

So just had update and mine is in the country... but going to be w/c 18th before it’s available for delivery.

What the Hell do they have to do? Does it come as an Airfix model??

What!?! I forgot to ask today so will do first thing tomorrow.

I watched a video on it. Apparently Stratstone have the contract to process all inbound cars. They do the inspection and programme the Satnav etc before onward travel...

Edit: actually the video was for cars arriving into Germany but I reckon it's the same here. Genius told me it was stratstone.

Strange. Can’t imagine there’s an awful lot to do. Check levels, tax, register, much more than that?? Hour or 2 at the most I would have thought, can’t believe takes 2 weeks to get to London!

Dealer had already marked for expediting so we’ll see what happens, all I can do is cross my fingers.

Can you let me know if you find anything out from your dealer about timing please? Yours is still on the ship, yes?

To be fair mine was 'port of exit' last time I checked a couple of days ago so will check in the morning again and report back. I imagine it takes more than a couple of days to cross the Atlantic. I've a feeling the genius 'updates' aren't necessarily bang up to date...

Right - just checked. It's in the UK!!! How bizarre is that. So basically all that time when it was saying 'in the process of being delivered to the logistics carrier' it must have been on a boat all along!

Not complaining though - they're saying about a week to get to my dealer. Who knows - maybe it's to do with how many cars they need to collate before dispatching to a particular region..?

You’d think it would be a little more efficient as cars in transit is money they aren’t taking! So quite possibly our cars were roomies... ❤️

Curious where you go for this, not had either for years. Some deals look reasonable, some look a right con.

I've taken out car2cover insurance for the last 3 cars I've had. If you get gap you can usually add on tyre insurance too. With £350 odd a pop for winters that's worth it with a single claim.

Some people swear by ala insurance too. Tonnes cheaper than dealers and usually much better terms etc too.

I can advice you on a great deal I got, however I'm abroad at the moment so don't have the details with me.
If you can wait for a couple of days I can give you details on GAP and tyre/alloy insurance.

That’d be fantastic, thank you. Not due apparently until w/c 18th so a few days to go until then. Frustratingly....

As promised here are the details of my purchase after a lot of shopping around before buying my brand new M50d:-

Vehicle Replacement+ GAP Insurance through "ALA GAP Insurance" - 5 years for £50k cover (vehicle value £75k) £333.00. Same cover for 4 years was £210. They guaranteed price match plus further 10% off.

I opted for tyre insurance only as my dealer included alloy insurance in my deal. "ALA GAP Insurance" Run Flat 21" Tyre insurance for 3 years, max 5 claims (£300 per claim) cost me £230. Again they guaranteed price match plus further 10% off.

At the time, the same company quoted me £135 for alloy insurance for 9 claims over 3 years.

So far over the first 12 months I have claimed for a brand new run flat, which has paid for the tyre insurance.

These policies IMO are worth their wait in gold and provide peace of mind, especially when I have a 4 year PCP finance contract for minimal outlay.

Hope this helps.

The biggest one must be the gap itself. If anyone has actually claimed one of those it must have been very very comforting to know that after a traumatic incident you can basically get all your money / Car back!

I agree - if my car is written off by the insurer or stolen and never retrieved, then the GAP will pay for a brand new car of the same spec and value (its the cash difference between what your insurer pays out and the value of an equivalent new vehicle). Do you guys in the US have a similar product?

Aside from initial value of the car, if it’s nicked or written off very early in the loan then the market value could easily be less than the settlement value of loan.

Some car insurance will cover new for old within first year or so, but not all.

Thanks for the details @X5M50D I’ll look into it!
