Rear valance trimming for MPE install

Hi, I have Pure Excellence 35i and will be putting in an MPE. I know the cleanest way is to buy a 50i lower valance, but also wonder if anybody tried trimming their existing valance to adopt it from round tips to square ones?

The new valance looks to be about $160+tax, so it's not terrible, but if I really just need to dremel it out a bit, I'd rather save time and money on swapping everything out.

Not that I heard of but if a simple thing like just purchasing and replacing the lower valance.

I would opt this way - no point to get into a headache of trimming and not being able to make it look clean like OEM.

I guess you could try and see how it turns out but for $160 I would personally just buy it and do it right.

Just do it... if it doesn't work out then spend the $160

My main concern is that I may end up with a cut-off muffler and MPE "not ready to go in" because I still need to dick around with the valance trimming, then who knows how uniform it all comes out. I'm just going to order a new valance and keep the old one in case I end up selling the MPE down the road.

good call. I think that's the best route to take.

Is there a pic of this? Went on Www.getbmwparts.com and I think it doesn't come with exhaust tips.

According to getbmwparts.com chrome tips and diffuser are sold separately. You will need to buy the following kits on top of the muffler, depending on what you have now:

F15 X5, F16 X6 with M Sport bumper - 18302349679;
F15 X5 with Pure Excellence or Experience exterior - 18302349683;
F15 X5 with standard package - 18302349212;
F16 X6 with standard package - 18302358257

In my situation I purchased a used MPE with the tail pipes already and just need to change out the lower valance to 50i version because it accepts square tips. If you are just purchasing the package from the dealer, you need the muffler + one of the options above + a sleeve clamp to attach the muffler to the midpipe.
