? clay bar then Menzerna powerlock on my X5

I dont even know if this is the correct forum to ask this but . . .
Last season I clay bared and followed by a few coats of Menzurna Powerlock and a few layers of Carnuba wax.

I want do it again. Do you think I can just clay bar and then re-apply the Menzurna or do I have to use something to first remove any Menzerna that might still be on the finish?

Thx

What I usually do is wash thoroughly with dish soap to strip all the wax, then clay, then wax.

Ok, thanks for that. I washed it this AM but I forgot how well Dawn strips old stuff off. Glad I asked. I'll wash it with awn now, then claybar (I use the mitt and its great) then Menzura.
Thx for that quick response.

I think a lot of this stuff is very much overthought. Do you need to clay it again? Have you gone the plastic baggie test? If there's no need to clay, then don't clay. Just slap another layer of Menzerna on there, and wax if you are feeling frisky.

Sounds like everyone is gonna get a positive result unless you've literally just clayed your vehicle...?

Here is the Claybar mitt I use . . . its the best!https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just walked in my house . . . 6 hours later. Washed with Dawn, Clay barred. Plet was right about not needing it. While I was doing it Im saying to myself either this BMW paint is amazing or the Menzerna stayed on somewhat over the winter.

I finished clay barring anyway (its an anal thing). Then 1 coat of Menzurna. I'll let it gas out overnight and give it another coat in the AM (If my back holds out . . . Ouch)
Looks super though. I'm not into ceramic coatings. I enjoy doing the detaiing myself.

The 2 coats of P21S . . .

Then I get to do it all over again on my Wife's Audi . . . Rut Row

That's similar to what I used. Detailing is fun yet tiring lol.

Careful, clay is an abrasive and may leave micro swirls.

Wash (I recommend avoiding dish soap, not likely ph balanced for car paint/ clearcoat)
Decontaminate
Clay
Wipe with a paint prep
Polish
Wash/dry
Wipe with a paint prep
2 coats menzerna PL
2 coats colonite 845,
Beautiful (a ton of work, 20 hours or so with breaks and cure times)

My x5 will be a year-round DD so I plan to do CP Cquartz uk. Anyone do that? Happy with it?

The Good, the Bad and the ugly
Here is the ugly first: so the next mornings I applied a nice thin 2nd layer of PL.

As I was putting the bottle back in my trunk I noticed it seemed a tad thinner with this 2nd treatment. I looked at the label and YIKES! I just did my entire X5 with Menzerna medium cut polish #2
Why, because I'm an idiot . . . and Menzerna is too cheap IMO to make their bottles different colors (they PL and medium cut are both black, yet one is just a little thinner).

The Bad: I had not started to wipe it off with a microfiber yet, so I washed it all off with Gyeon Q2M BATH this stuff is great). Then MF towel dried it and then applied the 2nd coat of PL. Allowed it to gas out another night and will apply 2 coats of P21S.
(now have around 10 hours into it and no wax yet).

The Good: luckily I only applied a super light coating of the medium power cut #2 with no rubbing or swirling. So far even without the wax yet . . . this is becoming one SlickAss finish
