Best write up DIY I've seen so far! Thanks for the tips and part# on that rubber line. At least this V8 maintenance is not as complicated as it may seem for the first time owner who will almost faint when he opens hood first time and sees a huge plastic cover under the hood. With the exception of those unique hoses that cost arm and a leg.
This is probably one of the easiest spark plug replacements on German V8.

Note to myself: considering turbos are so close judging from the pictures (I mean compared to N54 where you have to disassemble half or car to get to them), I'm wondering how hard it would be to swap them to some more powerful ones?

Didn't seem crazy but definitely a lot involved in something like that. They're not that exposed lol but I've never seen an N54 engine

Oh Dush and his quest for the most powerful 50i in the world . I did see on some forum Gintani n63tu w/ stage 1 pure turbos put down something well into the 600's. The turbos on these are right up front so it would probably be a couple hour install. I the set is only $2800 if I remember.

My question that I still have is are the catted Downpipes on then n63tu similar in any way to the s63tu?

Hey AZTWW, saw your car with new wheels and on Eibach - it looks gorgeous! AFAIK cats are a bit different in f85 X5M (less cells, more flow). Sooner or later I'll upgrade for something, either I'll max out stock turbos or go all-in with Pure Turbos. Financial and timing constraints are preventing me doing so for now.

Very detailed write up!!

What's your thought of using X5M plugs on stock N63tu engine? I don't think I will flash the car until August.

I'm no expert on the matter but I don't think it will be an issue.

It's pointless. But if you plan to flash sooner than later then might as well. End of the day they're cheaper so why not!

Honestly thinking about it now I would just do it all as one job. Not really same area of the engine but at least you're only tearing things out of your engine once you know. If I were you I'd also go ahead and add the M air filters as well since you have to remove the front air box to plug in the racechip.

Crap I just realized you said flash tune.

The .559 has a little play and the .61 will not fit. Got the driver's side and the forward most plug on the passenger side done in about 40 minutes. I'll tackle the other 3 in a little while.
Sweet! What does your crankcase hose look like? Curious

Those darn coil packs.....its like you have to pull with everything you have until you hear "thump" and it comes off fast sending your knuckles into everything sharp in the engine bay.

At least, that has always been my experience.

Well... Unfortunately, this didn't fix my issue. Still getting misfire and injection switched off codes

Oh snap. Didn't know what codes I was getting as I couldn't read German on the "BimmerLink" app but that's not good. You clearly needed the swap but maybe some of your coils went bad.
