Official Extended Warranty Thread!

There are a couple of threads sprinkled out there regarding extending warranties, but would like to designate this thread for ALL warranty-related questions and suggestions in order to make lives easier for those who are approaching their final months of their factory warranties!

My factory warranty expired but found out that I have another three months because I purchased a demo X5 (until late July). Planning to extend at least another 4 years, with the most comprehensive plan (aka the most expensive one). With recurring spark plug issues, I am definitely purchasing extended warranty.

For those who have already extended your warranties, do you have recommendations on which dealership(s) to contact? I have contacted a few local ones, awaiting replies at the moment, but if there are any sweet out-of-state deals, I'd appreciate any information

Paid around $4000 for my 5/80 platinum. Also don't think spark plugs are covered. Maybe if you have the service plan but they're wear and tear items.

Also a HUGE must for anyone getting close to end of factory warranty. do yourself a favor and get a presale inspection done so you can get everything they find fixed while still under warranty.

Also as long as you have the car scheduled to get the work done before the last day then you're good. You can make an appt a month after it expires to have something done and you're good to go.

My warranty is also running out and I was looking for info on this. I'm wondering if anyone knew a good dealer with good prices.

I didn't end up getting extended warranty from dealer as I could not find the time to do so. I might resort to third-party, but the recurring drivetrain malfunction notices is compelling me to get rid of this car altogether...

Might be best to trade it in. Get rid of the problem before you get stuck with it. I guess it could also depend if you owe anything on it or it's paid for.
