So I wouldn't worry about it. If anything it only shows that our non M 50i is probably the only engine (n63tu) capable of been there among the M crowd. Also in 2019 X3M owners may get 475hp, but those of us tuned already have about 500-530 right now. By the 2019 - I'm sure we will have closer to 550-575hp with future tunes and pushing it more. P.S. That X3M is still going to be a rocket - just because it's lighter and can also be tuned. |

Will be interesting to see how much it is, here in the UK. I’m tempted by the M40i, as that looks loads of fun, but if the M isn’t too much more, it could be worth waiting.

Yes, quite easily. There are a number of flash tunes out there for the 50i producing 100+ hp and ft/lbs gains with no other mods.

"Only"? People here pay thousands of dollars to extract that from their stock motor. 20hp gain on an lighter X3 is a huge increase from the previous platform and says a lot about the motor and the X3M in general.
Albeit late to the party. I assume this was done because the SQ5 is already into it's second generation and having no problems selling. BMW sees a market and now needs to cater to it.
