*Is Racechip GTS on n63tu really that bad?
I've been thinking of purchasing a Racechip GTS for my 2015 X6 n63tu 50i.. While searching through related post i have come across this post (see the posted link below) stating that the added power was there during their 1st dyno run only, then the n63tu's computer recognized that the change was only from the tmap sensors alone vs other sensors and made corrections which resulted in a loss of any gained power after that. I have also read in another post that the n63tu is hard to trick with these basic plug n play control chips.
https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1629850 BUT wait, its gets better.. Then there is this guy from the YouTube video (click on the video below) who had an awful experience.. Are all these post true or false? If the Racechip GTS is so bad on the n63tu why do they continue to sell them and forum sponsors keep backing their sales? Does anyone have any favorable experiences with a Racechip GTS on a n63tu? Or is the n63tu computers just too quick to adapt to the false tmap readings? On the other hand, i read they work great on the six cylinder BMW engines.. There also seems to be a few versions... A Racechip Ultimate along with the Racechip GTS.. Which one is the better version? All Comments are welcome. Last edited by ~ViO~; 01-20-2020 at 01:35 PM.. |

I had it on my 2016 550 and zero problems for 3 years.

Really, that's good to know... Did you have the Racechip GTS or Racechip Ultimate and is there a difference between the two? We're you running it at it's default, if not, what setting? And how noticeable was the added power?

I had the ultimate, not GTS. Tried several setting including default. Power is pretty noticeable but not as smooth or powerful all throughout the power band like a custom tune or BM3. However, I did not run it very long as I drove that car just over 20k miles and the Racechip was on it for 18k or so. I chose it as it is a TUV approved solution.

One thing I can say about that video, He didn't buy it from me, lol.
I would've explain things much better, haha. He all mentioned about CEL, but what was the CEL for. Without giving detail on what is the CEL code, it is hard to troubleshoot what is the issue. A note for N63tu motor, it will perform better with spark plugs upgrade to 1 step colder, such as F85/F86 X5M/X6M spark plugs.
