Sunroof Problems, Need Help

So I'm stuck with the inoperable sunroof, as some of you know this can be commonplace among Bimmers.

I've done the reset procedure (holding tilt button, allowing roof to cycle through tilt, full open, and close). This seems to work for most people on various forums & threads. I can manually get sunshade to move forward incrementally. I've done this reset many times, still not solving the issue.

When trying to normally operate the roof, the roof won't open or tilt, but does make a "click" sound at the switch. The switch will do the reset procedure, and the roof tilts, opens, and closes without any indications of problems (no strange noises or binding, etc.). But nothing gets resolved for me.

I disconnected the battery several times, once overnight, touched the ground and power together, pressed the brake pedal, anything and everything I could think of to get things restarted, or anything I've read that helped others get theirs back to normal.

I'm not sure if I have a hardware or software problem at this point, but I don't want to pay unnecessarily to have the dealer fix it. It seems to me that if it were hardware (motor/switch) the roof reset wouldn't function; and if it were software the reset should reinitialize the roof & synchronize everything back to normal operating condition??

Do you continue holding the switch for 30 seconds after the sunroof does its travel?

Issue fixed by the dealer. It was a software issue for the sunroof only, weird but they fixed it quick (they needed to redo software for it, simple reset of idrive, etc. did not do the trick).
