My body kit, rear bumber, exhaust tips look the same as any other M-Sport so I’m wondering if that’s accurate. Anybody know about restrictions on this part? Thanks a lot!

afaik the MPE itself comes wih no tips; you need to buy the tips based on your bumper or you can cut them from the current exaust
r33_RGSport can help with part numbers...

Oh okay, thanks! Somebody mentioned it's better to get the MPE with the tips because cutting/welding the ones off the stock pipes are hard to get straight. The part I've been looking at is 18-30-2-344-205 -- anybody know if that's the right one?

18 30 2 349 679 is the chrome finisher(tip) part number for the m sport ones.

I have the MPE, and honestly, I think you could achieve similar sound just by coding the exhaust flap to always be "open"... Yeah, the MPE may sound slightly more aggressive, but is it worth the price? I say, "no"... especially since you can code it with a free app (BimmerLink).

But then you can't brag about your fancy exhaust.

I think earlier in the thread it’s been posted that keeping the flap open loses low end performance which is not a problem with the MPE.

Doesn't bimmerlink cost money?

I dunno man...that exhaust is probably one of the best mods for the X5. I just started mine up, parked outside of a restaurant, and everyone standing out front kind of looked surprised that an x5 sounded like that. Def worth the money. I hate that the tips look the same as stock, but I guess they had their reasons.

mpe sound is different than opening the flap because regular exhaust pipe is cut open inside and mpe is almost straight pipe with some perforated section to eliminate drone

No, the M Sport exhaust and the M Performance exhaust are different. The M sport exhaust still has the valve on the right tail pipe, and the trapezoid shaped exhaust tips are upside-down.

Just get a BimmerLink app and program your exhaust flap to always be open... wish I had done that instead of buying the M Performance exhaust

I am afraid that doing so might void warranty.

Open the exhaust valve. It'll sound better...not MPE but better
