Great time. Is this run done with the 550i in your signature?

I sure am. I was stage 1 before I got the downpipes. Pipes added a nice lil bump, more spool up sound and little extra to otherwise OEM exhaust.

From what I've read, looks like stage 2 adds a degree or 2 of timing and 1.5psi midrange. Not confirmed though.

It was. That was first run. Oddly, 3rd (and final) run was right after they prepped the track. Using LC, didn't cut nearly the same 60'...and it was 15* cooler.

First run I had shifter in normal position, put it in sport+, and pressed the DSC button once. Held RPM to 3k and then let it eat.

I noticed that launching at 2 to 2.2k stays pulling hard whole way at 3k it seems like the car doesnt run as much timing as converter locks and then starts pulling again .
Also anyone have opinions on trans tunes? Not much info and I only see mission but I want bm3 or dme tuning so I don't know if I should do mission trans tune with diff eco tune.

I have a 18 n55 x5 that's mhd stage 2 and a 09 n54 with hydra 650 turbos torqbyte meth controller and v8bait tune on mhd with xhp stage 3 and propulsive dynamics bushings and clutches with zip kit on my 6hp . Now my 16 550i I just bought and I want go bm3 or dme tuning but I am concerned with torque limiters in 3rd and 6th and if the tunes scale l2t tables to avoid this which means less shift pressure etc. That's why a trans tune interests me cause on my 6hp and my 8hp50 it transforms the car and obviously the new m5 is using the same trans just wider gear spread so the hardware can hold a ton of power, hell the 8hp50 can to but the mission trans tube claims to increase line pressure and speed up shifts plus allows more torque transfer during shift so should be able to make shifts very firm to point of in sport feeling like dct.

So I emailed him and asked about possibility to do same upgrade for our stock Garrett MGT22S (MGT2256S). He said he no longer has power to his end mill machine to do turbine size machining, but he can upgrade compressor wheel to 50mm one (stock is 47mm). The cost is $750 (including rebuild if needed), I'm not sure yet per turbo or for 2 turbos.

I'm now thinking if upgrading only compressor wheel size by 3mm while leaving as is turbine wheel size - will this be a worthy investment or not - meaning if it will give us more power or not?

So far I researched and found out that 3mm increase - it will indeed give us an increase in air flow by about 20% with only negative been a slight increase in spooling time. 20% increase in air flow is substantial and is all we need imho. Keeping air flow increase on the conservative side is better as we don't want to create a turbo surge and blow up engine or bend rod. The beauty of this is the fact that our setup will stay same - same flanges/mounts - you just unbolt turbos, send it for upgrade and then bolt them back. There are 2 lines for coolant and oil in each turbo. Everything is bolt-on and bolt off. I'm not yet sure exactly how much it costs to take turbos off and then put them back, but if it's reasonable - then this may look like a next step in 50i tuning. I'm guessing any tune can take advantage of 20% increase of air flow - that could simply mean less psi boost will give us same power - so we can extract same power while keeping less boost. Win-Win if you ask me.

Can someone comment if increasing inducer size only (while keeping turbine wheel size same) will be beneficial?
Maybe. The math may indicate a 20% increase because of swept area. Will the turbine actually drive to the same speed? Again, maybe. Are you leaving waste gate settings the same? Turbine side pressure is close to double the compressor side, is everything going to hold together? Raising turbine inlet pressure may lead to choke. Different housings may be required, too.

Do have the compressor and turbine maps?

Was this done at the same place/ same dyno? That torque seems a little bit high, watch out for your drive shaft you may break it!! That’s 200 more ft-lb more then before! Can’t wait to see your new track times.

Wow, great numbers! Bm3 are the shit, as far as I'm concerned.

Are your numbers expressed as Imperial horsepower and foot-pounds of torque, or ps and Newton-meters of torque?

I've read, from some questionable or at least non-authoritative sources, that the N/S63tu connecting rods start to bend at around 700 whp. I have no idea how much faith to put in that.

There are so few known (at least in my extensive research online) instances of these things coming apart that it's hard to know just how far we can safely push them. Hopefully all of ours stay healthy and live to a ripe old age.

Can't wait to hear your track results.

Nice! I blew the doors off a current-generation Cayenne Turbo a couple of months back. Very satisfying. But yours is cool 'cause that's an actual performance car that's legitimately fast.

What tune are you running?
Running VRTUNED, but going to go with DME Tuning in spring. VR TUNE is impressive for a starter tune as I got their stage 2 but once I put downpipes, will go with DME

Debating whether or not to pull the trigger on the BM3 or DME Tuning. Just curious if anyone has done the BM3 in Texas and if it passes emissions for inspection.

You can always flash it back to stock in about 45 seconds, do your emissions test, and then put the tune back on in another 45 seconds. Easy-peasy.
