Question What are each of the two batteries for?

I have two batteries in my 2014 3.5, one a typically large BMW battery and the other about half the size what are each of these used for?

What options do you have? The auxiliary battery is usually included when you have options/features that require more electrical power...like electronic steering.

just a minor correction, all F15s have electric steering; what you're referring to is Active (=variable) steering.

That must be another battery besides the typical half sized battery many x5 have.

There are two types of auxiliary batteries...one is a small AGM battery...and some may be optioned with a small Lithium battery.

Are they interconnected to each other? So if you do a battery reset does it reset both or just one? Or if you unplug one does the other keep power to ecu so there is no need for a tender?

Asked a similar question in the f85 thread.

I just want to change my smaller battery (50ah), from what I see there is no coding or registration needed for that?

My small battery is from late 2014, do it is definitely due....

Here's a question - do heated rear seats mean I definitely have the second small battery? I got dealer to give me new main battery so I haven't looked back there myself, and of course harder to do so in this vehicle than my older Ms.
