Non Run Flat Tires on the F15

I am currently running the 20' Bridgestone Dueler run flat tires. Had a puncture to one of them and the rest tires are 3/10 already so it's time to replace all 4. I hear Non run flats are way better for road noise and even ride quality. One place told me today that the X5's are too heavy and designed for run flat tires. They mentioned the car won't run right with the non run flats. Sounds bogus. Let me know your thoughts.

Yeah just as you guessed that's all nonsense especially when some non runflat tires actually have heavier load capacity. As long as you have tires that are oe spec of 275 40 20 / 315 35 20 for your oem 20's you'll be fine.

HAHA...sounds like a scare tactic to get you to buy more expensive tires. Bunch of BS. The X5s can be spec'd from factory in Non-runflats; the m-sport could get non-runflat high performance tires. And the X5Ms were standard on 20 or 21 tires, non-runflat.

Non run flat tires will work just fine. You may experience a slightly different handling behavior with softer sidewalls.

I couldn't wait for my run flats to be replaced. I finally went non run flat a few weeks ago and glad I did. I haven't had the chance to push then yet but they are way more comfortable to drive on that's for sure.

Replacing my Dunlops with 28,000 miles to Contis DWS 06.
Still have tread but the noise is obtrusive.

Just replaced my conti run flats with Michelin A/S 3 N Specs. Not sure why but they were a little noisy for the first 300 miles but are extremely quiet now and the ride is 10x better. I went with these instead of the Conti DWS 06 because the tread pattern on the Contis looked like they may cause some road noise. The guy at my local Indy shop just put his 3rd set of DWS 06s on his X5 and he loves them. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Ditch the RFT.
You'll benedit in every possible aspect, more comfortable ride,no more cupping, uneven wear is gonne also, if you want you can add spare under floor.
Riding is much better with non RFT.
I replaced Bridgestone with Michelin.

on all f85 x5m they come with non runflat as standard. with the suspension on the f85, glad to have non runflat as it is much more stiffer than my old e70 40d with runflats.

just make sure the tyres have xl load rating to take the weight.

Are the Toyo Proxes 4 plus better than the ST III? I've gotten good feedback on the ST III's

I think the proxes 4 plus are meant for cars not SUV's. Looking up on their site it doesn't even list the Proxes 4 as an option on either the 19" or 20" wheel package.

I couldn't take the noise and rough ride of the Pirelli run flats that came on my X5 and ditched them after only 10K miles. I put on Michelin non-run flats and couldn't be happier. They are quieter, ride better, handle better... win win.

Which ones exactly? I've read about a few of the sport Michelin's but some mention are specd for a Porsche Panamera

I wouldn't say these are sport Michelin's, they are the Premier LTX 255/50R19's. I think they may be rated M+S. They are so superior to the Pirelli Scorpion run flats that came on the car I don't worry about the rating.

You have oem staggered 20's correct? If so yes they are porsche rated tires but alot of us including myself have them on for our 20s. There's literally a thread a few rows down about the michelin as3 https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1640827

bringing this up but recently changed my tires from Dueller HP SPORT to Bridgestone BS ALENZA A/S

Costco tech was telling me that the non rft would wear out faster then RFT tires? (not sure why but he was saying that its a softer compound)

The Dueller HP Sport lasted me 4 summers (as I have dedicated winter tires)

he also said costco warranty wouldnt apply as the car is spec'd for RFT and i am putting in non RFT tires ... what difference does it make? lol

Don't listen to Costco techs, their internal policy is absolutely stupid and they are all about liability and safety and so on, they only install tire size and spec from the manual/sticker/their internal book, end of story.
