Oil Alert

About two months of ownership of my 2017 50i and I just got the popup that I need to add 2 quarts of oil. It happened on my way to the airport. I'm parked there now. Any concern with me driving home, about 30 miles, before I add the oil?
Thanks.

Restart and warning may go away if you're on border line. Just stop at a gas station and grab a quart. If weight isn't same it's no big deal

Probably not, but just top off as soon as you can. I've been in the exact same situation with my X5M. Your warning goes off at minimum recommended level.

I just had the situation when I was in the middle of nowhere. I drove lightly and was able to find a store to get the recommended type of engine oil after about 65 miles.

...and always watch the spot where you parked it.
Typically, you get earlier signs, but think it is A/C condensation, you ignore it.
It happened to me, eventually revealing a high pressure oil leak.
Had to clean up and it cost me $1000 to do so.

There had to be an auto store closer than 30 miles? But yes I also keep one in the back of the luggage area for these times. I get it about every 5k miles. 1-2 qts.

When it's yellow and says add 2 qts you are fine to drive some 30 miles.

It's when it's red and shows that the oil is below the minimum you need to take caution.

I always carry a spare bottle in the trunk.
