Front cup holders
Hey - so these are the worst for any type of bottle water. They barely hold drinks in paper cups from say, In and Out. Bottle waters lean back and forth while driving.
Anyone have a fix or replacement option with more friction/pressure? thx, -s- |

Hmm I haven't experienced this. Mine seems to hold water bottles and other cups without issue. Starbucks , McDonald's etc..

Small 16oz water bottles are too small. Put those in the door. Thinks like 20oz bottles and like beverage cups from fast food and gas stations are what fits.

I use a 20oz Contigo water bottle all the time, no problems ever. Wife uses a normal plastic water bottle no problem. WeatherTech cup phone holder works no problem either.

Should have been more specific, mine hold them with no movement. Maybe my springs are stiffer?

Don't have this issue. Usually use 0.5L bottles or medium Tim Horton's cups.

For bottles that have a shutting cap I put them in the doors' cupholders..

It sounds like the problem might be using paper cups. Have you tried bottles or cans? How about a paper cup with less taper? |

You didn't get the memo???
It is designed for American and built by American. So, a minimum size that will fit in that cup holder is Big Gulp cup as attached.

The problem is the shape of your water bottle and plastic composition. That plastic water bottle is very soft and has a lot of give. Compared to the forces your X5 will generate while driving the plastic bottle is no match. The concave sides also don't allow support either; solution for that type of bottle is a deep cup holder. If you insist on plastic bottles, change brands to something straight and wider; we have Aquafina plastic bottles (I think 15.9/16 ounce) for example, they are a bit narrow, but bottle sides straight. I'll have to test to see how they respond under pressure and acceleration. As someone said, think American, think big...we overindulge and most cup holders are designed for bigger. And vice versa, convenience stores and fast food purposely design their cups to fit into cup holders. |

the taller the container, the worse. I use one of those giant size starbucks ice coffee cups that is narrower on the bottom than the top... every time I turn sharply I need to hold the top of it..... first world problems I suppose...
