Manual Trans for 2012 550?
I'm kicking around the idea of ordering a 550, and I would like a manual trans. BMW's site does not show the option, but I have found a low-mileage, used 2011 550 with a manual trans. Is it still available for the 2012 MY?
Thanks!

yes, the website is wrong. Trying to find one isn't easy though. You're better off ordering the one you want.

The option doesnt show because manual transmission is STANDARD. If you want automatic you have to specify you want the automatic. If you go to the website and look under the specification it will say manual trans

That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. I just assumed it would have both options listed to choose from. That's what I usually find on other sites. I have found a manual 2011 with 12,000 miles and most of the options I want in Dallas for mid-$50's. I'm waiting for an email back on it, and as much as I like having a vehicle exactly like I want it I like someone taking the initial depreciation hit even better. It has the stock, ugly sport (non-M) wheels on it, but I'll change those anyways and lower the car as well. As crazy as it sounds, I'm gonna get rid of my 2010 ZR1 for the 550. I have multiple toys, and I miss having a BMW since the M3 is long gone. The ZR1 is a blast, but I also miss the practicality of a car that I can enjoy on a regular basis. The Dinan stage 2 tune will bump the power to 500 HP and retain full warranty, and that's hard to beat! It's the classic apples and oranges comparison, but I've had four C6 Corvettes and I'm over them until the C7 is released.
Thanks again for the help.

Yes I know that, for some reason it shows up auto, but the standard transmission is 6MT. the only way to get a view of the 6MT would be to go under the 535 configuration. But the 6MT is available for the 550. When you order through your dealer just make sure you point it out to him the you want the standard 6MT.

Nope, the 535i configurator defaults to automatic as well, hence the confusion.
