Thank God for the Tow Hitch

Well this happened today. Hoping damage is limited to the bumper and exhaust but we’ll see. Other car is doneso. Both passengers had to be taken to ER in ambulance but we made it out unscathed. Although wife is 38 weeks so went to ER on our own. Were good to leave in 4 hours u til my wife showed the nurse the pic of the other car and now we’re hear for 24hours. She is pissed. Haha. Thankfully we’re both doing ok. And from what the Trooper told us the other car seem to be minor injuries.

Wow…glad you and family are OK.

Since the bumper is flexible…make sure they check thoroughly behind it because hidden damage behind the bumper can easily be overlooked due to the flexibility of the material the rear bumper is made of.

Absolutely. I’m good friends with the body shop manager at the dealer so I know he’ll take care of me.

100% thankful. Very scary initially but thankfully the impact on our end was relatively mild. I think the addition of small car, his braking further lowering the front end, and our tow hitch made a huge difference.

Glad u r ok, the X5 looks like it took the hit pretty well.

Just a FYI, having a tow hitch in this situation may cause more harm than good. Since a tow hitch is used to tow, it is designed to be rigid n sturdy which means in the event of an impact, it may transfer the energy elsewhere and MAY possibly crack the frame. The oem bumper beam, along with the styrofoam, is meant to absorb the impact energy n transfer as little of the energy as possible into the cabin.

I like how the blue car was obviously at fault and the billboard above it in the picture says "RESPONSIBLE".
