Front Passenger Headrest forward adjustment

So I was riding shotgun today and noticed that the headrest felt like it was pushing my head forward. I found a button to slide it back but once I release it it moves back to the forward position. I have a 50i MSport but cant tell if I have MC or Sport seats. I ran MDecoder but didn't see anything that tells me which I have unless S456A Comfort Seat with memory is the same as MC (Multi Contour). I don't feel the same forward feeling in the driver seat.
Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

456 is MC. Have you bought your car new?

It was probably adjusted higher compared to your driver side

So after looking into further, the headrest itself does not move forward and back. The Headrest and upper part of the seat/shoulder area move/tilt as one. When adjusting the driver seat it stays. Looks like the front passenger may be faulty. Gonna make a call to my SA and have fixed under CPO. Hopefully it's covered.

So it was not new? There’s a chance that your car was in the accident and this is the result of Active Headrest being deployed.

I know you can't swear by a CarFax report but nothing showed up on there nor on the Service records or inspection report. I thought a CPO had to be accident free.

Well, not everything goes via insurance... But it can be something completely different and your car can be accident free.

I'm more concerned that you've got a button on your headrest and 456 option in your options list. There's no button on MC seats headrest.

Can you post the pics of your headrest/seat?

I for sure don't have the button on the head rest. I already made an appointment to bring it in this week. I wonder what loaner I'll get to use this time.

I have the button on my headrest, but it appears to only angle the headrest up or down. I bought used and the headrest is elevated a bit to high but for the life of me I can't figure out how to lower it. I've tried pushing down pretty hard but nothing. It's not like my Honda that has a tab on the side you push in to raise and lower.

If you have electric headrests...they can be lowered/raised using the button that controls the seat back...to raise the headrest...you push upward...to lower...you push downward.

If you don't have electric headrests...then you manually pull up or down to change the position of the headrests.

I'm sure this information is covered in the owners manual, too...especially if you need clarification as to which seat you have or if you have electric headrests or not.

Click the following link for more info about the head restraint type below: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...ctions/XHUq3ak

A Crash-active head restraint (not triggered)
1 Front section of the head restraint
3 Button for setting the head restraint (depth adjustment)
5 On activation, max. total path upwards: 40 millimetres

B Crash-active head restraint (triggered)
2 Head restraint support
4 On activation, max. total path forwards: 60 millimetres
6 Mechanical system for setting the head restraint as well as for motion of the head restraint in a triggering process

Appreciate the insight. My headrest is electronic and before your post I would have never assumed that.
