Tracking production and delivery in Canada

In Canada, we do not have as much tools as the states.
I have researched this before and collected what is needed to track the production to the point of arriving at the dealer.

Here are the info, just in case anybody what to track their car.

Using the last 7—digits of the VIN, get the spec from www.bmwarchive.org (has photo, but has some german language) or www.bmwvin.com
These work on any BMW ever produced or scheduled for production.

Also BMW Canada 1-800-567-2691, can give production status and whether it left the factory using VIN or Production number.

For train shipping:
My car was shipped with Norfolk Southern
Call 1-800-497-2919, then press 1, then follow the instructions to enter the rail car number.

Some cars get shipped with a different company, CSX.
Same process as above but using the phone number 1-800-235-2352

For truck shipping (like from Montreal/Toronto to the dealer)
Use VIN in www.lhf.com

For ship (to cross the atlantic coming from Germany) - Not applicable to F15
Use http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp with the last 7-digits of the VIN to track where the ship is.

It also reminds me of Middle Ages...
I never understood why such simple tool doesn't exist here...

No problem.

I am not sure what status 50 is. I searched for it and could not find what it means. Do you mean 150?

I assume you have your production number. You should be able to get the production week from either the dealer or BMW Canada.
VIN should be generated in the beginning of that week.

I'm not sure! I think it was 50 but could have been 150? all I know is that it was status 12, which meant we were able to change the options/colors still. The following day it turned to status 50 (or 150) which meant it was firm and changes could no longer be made to the car

I just got the production and vin number this morning..BMW is closed so I guess I can't find out anything until then.

I got my VIN on a Saturday too. Monday, BMW will tell you it is in production. I expect it to get out production by the end of the week.

Then you call the dealer and the rail car number, which you will need for the train shipping.

Thanks!

Transport from the factory takes about two weeks.

It is a turtle slow train.

It should arrive in train yard in Toronto then to the dealer.

Thank you,
So I should have it by end of the month roughly? Or at least it should arrive by end of the month and pick up first week of November?

Np,

I would assume first week the earliest cause they will take few days to prep the car at the dealer.

By the way, how would we know which shipping agent is transporting our vehicle?

That is an interesting question

I called one of them, gave them the rail car number. They told me "it is not us, call this other company"

Chances are the first company in my post is the mostly used at least for Ontario and eastern Canada.

Will BMW Canada give me the rail car number once it ships?

According to your first post, it may come by truck or rail correct?

For Canada, it is always rail then truck.

Your dealer should give you the rail car number once it shipped from the factory.

Spoke to my dealer this morning, she said it should leave any day now and the ETA is November 3rd. Not bad at all.

Looking forward to it..

I tried the first website and it's just full of galleries (no tracking) the second one is not working at all ! I got so happy for a moment when I found that I can track it. I called BMW Canada yesterday and they told me the production is finished with status 155. I wish if there's a website that I can track the car instead of calling.
