The new iDrive is kind of cool though I have to admit I would have been disappointed if I had the same iDrive system that I had in my 5er.

Also, CarPlay is the biggest waste of money

I would have much rather gotten the Wireless Charging and HotSpot feature.

Siri is annoying when text messages come in and the only functionality it really has it showing your spotify list in the same colors as on your iPhone. I have carplay turned off and use the iDrive integration as I find it better.
I got mine on the 3rd May brand new. Like I said I haven't done any coding on my car yet but that's because I have an issue with my tailgate opening as discussed in other posts so I didn't want to mess around with coding in case BMW turned around and said this could've affected the tailgate which, of course would've been bs anyway.

Yes the current iDrive 6.0 is a massive difference from the original NBT system I had in my 2013 6 Series GC.

Once my tailgate gets sorted then I'll have a play around with the coding and see what I can do.

Agreed with CarPlay, I touched on this in another thread I started. CarPlay is abysmal and I too wish I had the Wifi hotspot option. I use iDrive's functionality and find it much much more better...

Can you explain this please, i'm not sure I quite understand?

By 'activated' do you mean when you actually flick the indicator stork? Surely that would be normal then?

Or activated as in an option to show in the HUD and is basically there all the time regardless of flicking the indicator stork...

When you flick the indicator stork, both left and right arrows show up on HUD in grey colour, and the active one (left or right) alternates to green. When not using the turn signals, the arrows are not visible.

I had them coded on my last 3 cars with HUD; miss the feature like crazy.

The steering wheel blocks the dash signals for me.

I also find the iDrive 6.0 to be slow...takes forever to sync up with my phone and start playing Spotify.

Lastly, I have CarPlay and Wifi. Agreed on CarPlay...terrible interface and I disabled it about 2 weeks in (I've since gone back to regular Bluetooth connection with iDrive, although as I said above, it's slow, so might be going back to CarPlay).

But what I don't understand for the life of me is the benefit to wifi. I have unlimited data on my phone with tethering, so to pay for another subscription to get a signal in the car is...weird? Wireless charging is convenient, but nothing a cable cannot solve.

Instead of using bluetooth for music, why not just use an Apple Cable to centre arm rest usb? Charges phone, shows full playlists, better sound quality and faster loading times on iDrive. I choose cable over bluetooth audio any day...

I used Kies. Went with upgrade from base dash so that it was illuminated... Cannot believe BMW even has that junk base dash. I was not a fan of all digital dash...

Was it brand new - yes. Was it plug and play with remote coding - yes. Does it work perfectly without soldering or cutting circuits or concern of another cars mileage being inputted - yes. Was it 2k - yes....

But I love it and the simplicity of doing it with new product given the challenges of the dash being coded to your VIN already.

I happen to disagree on the digital dash, after seeing it in person it changes the look of quality inside the cabin.

I have the 6WA that came with the car and frankly it is quite boring especially when it turns orange at night

Getting my hands on a 6WB has been a challenge though (without paying $3000 from Kies Motorsports that is).

Most of these ebay sellers selling them have some sort of catch when dealing with them (asking extra money for conversion fees etc).

You have a fully digital 6WB with HUD turn signals working? This is the first time I heard someone getting HUD signals to work on a 6WB.

In any case, my cluster should be here next week will post photos of the completed installation

Very interesting. It was my understanding that you can't get turn signal to show in HUD with 6wb cluster.

Besides paying $3k for a new 6WB with HUD from Kies or $2.6k for a slightly used one from f15 private owner sales forum (saw one recently), the easiest option is ebay. They go for around $1200-1300 (with HUD), used ones in good condition (e.g. no visible scratches or any issues). Often they go with previous VIN already erased for you and mileage reset. Something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-F01-F02...0.H0.X6wb.TRS0

As for coding them - it's relatively easy process, any remote coder can do it for $75 (it takes 15 min max).
The only issue here is that of moral principles Most of them are stolen, so it's up to you to buy it or not. Lithuania ebay lots are 99% all stolen. The one i posted is from Russia - that may be not stolen, because market in Russia for X5 is comparable to US and there are more offerings that are just normal used clusters from salvage/parting out cars. But no one can give you any guarantee that it's not stolen.

Yes I don't believe you can code turn signals in 6WB. I had it on my 6WA and the coding is still there however they no longer show on my 6WB.

If it is working I'd love to hear how he did so that we can all get it working =)

Is the one you posted above going to work for my vehicle? 2014 50i with HUD? I'm a bit confused on compatability...

As for owning an unethical instrument cluster, I dont like it but neither can I control that. Thank god for insurance.
