Anyone running 285/40/ZR22 and 325/35/ZR22 combo on their F15?
I need to replace my 295/30/22 + 335/25/22 Scorpion Asymetricos but developed the transfer case "stutter." I'm going to have the transfer case flushed and reset but once I put my stock 255/50/19s (all around) on for the winter the stutter went away.
I figure the transfer case stutter is due to the well-know issue now of the overall diameter difference between the 295/30/22 and 335/25/22 combo being outside of 1%. I know I can move to a 285/30/22 front with the 335/25/22 rear (sadly only available in the Michelin PS4S which will be around $2400 installed) and bring the diameter difference under 1% but has anyone tried running a 285/40/22 on the front with a 325/35/22 on the rear? I know that this will add almost 2" to the overall diameter (31" vs about 29.1") but I think the beefier sidewall would look a lot better, and add some additional cushion to protect the 22" rims. I think clearance would be ok, but looking to see if anyone has tried this combo on an F15. Since both fronts and rears will be exactly 31" diameter I don't think there will be any other driveline issues either besides the speedo reading about 2.5% high Any other tire size suggestions are welcome too. |

I think 31" will hit the front upper control arm and likely the inner fender liner when turning
Edit: this is based on research I've done and pics of other tire setups I've seen on the F15. My conclusion is the beefiest tire I can fit on an 18" is 265/60/18 without changing too much...this is about 30.52" diameter

So no more than about 30.25" or so seems like the max and even that might be pushing it |

Got the transfer case serviced and my shop showed me the fluid. it was black Shop owner said the fluid looked like it came from a car with 80-100k miles on it, not 49k. He said the dirtiness/contamination is from the slippage I was experiencing with the tire differential (basically wearing of the material which contaminates the fluid). And I only had the 295/335 22" combo on the car for about half of the 49k miles (they are the "summer" set of wheels/tires). Let my experience serve as a warning to everyone, don't go for the 295/30/22 + 335/25/22 combo. It is just too much of a diameter differential for the transfer case and it will eventually do damage. Still trying to find a better option than the 285/335 Pilot sport 4S combo. I see Pirelli has a 275/35/22 + 315/30/22 combo that could also work in P Zero All Season, but that is like a $2300 tire setup as well. Though the treadlife is much higher at a 500 vs the 300 on the PS4S. might be worth it in the long run. |

Anyone running 275/35/22 fronts with a 315/30/22 rear? There are a few options in these tire sizes. Overall diameter is 29.5/29.6" so there should be no issues with the transfer case and I think clearance will be fine but it's always good to hear from someone who has actually run the combo.
