The 93 map or shall we say ecu should adapt, which means it retards the timing. But how does it know to retard the timing? The knock sensors. And I would call that "riding the knock sensors" which is not a good idea. Remember when the knock sensors detect knock, that crap has already happened. Which if the tune is commanding too much timing for the fuel used, you could end up with broken rings, etc from detonation. I don't know that much about how bmw handles knock, but I have a supercharged mustang and ford's ecu is always in closed loop after initial startup. The ford computer corrects for a/f ratio even at wot, so it can correct timing and fueling on the fly. Others don't and use pre-determined tables.

3. Extra weight savings: swap stock oem battery to lightweight Deka. Saves another 35lbs. I'm driving on it already for 3 months and no issues. However, I am in AZ, so I can't guarantee how it will behave in colder states.
4. Seat removal and swap for a sport Recaro or Momo) or other lightweight brand). Rear seat - about 75lbs saving. Both front seats - about 150lbs saving. Good sport seat like Recaro weighs about 20lbs. So in total you can get about 200lbs savings. Yes, I know only 1% crazy enough will do it, but hey, I've done it. You can always go back easily.
5. Tune. This is biggest mod. Decide for yourself which one to get.
6. Downpipes - another 20-40whp on the table, but we need more info. Don't think anyone have done it yet on 50i on the forum.
7. Spark plugs from X5M or maybe NGK ones that are 1 step colder and need to gap them down to 0.6mm. There is a thread about it by Maverick: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1505161

8. Meth kit. Meth helps with cooling down IATs and boosting octane. For those in AZ where we only have 91 octane - it's a cheapest way to get "100 octane" equivalent and get cooler IATs - that will allow tune to get better ignition timing and possibly better boost. I'll post later my experience, as I'm most probably going to add meth kit soon.

9. Brake upgrades. Couple options available. Either 4-piston Brembo brakes from previous gen. X5M E70/E71 - they are basically direct plug-n-play or 6-piston F85 X5M (even better option if you can find it for a good price). There is also a MPBK available if you just want new kit. I got to playing around on the BM3 portal and they have two OTS maps for us. One is for N63-1728 (V1 Released 5/24/18) and the other is for N63-172H (V4 Released 4/30/18)... Based on that, I would have guessed to download the N63-1728 since its newer but I googled around and found someone ask the same question on the F10 board and they were recommended to download the N63-172H.

Anyone have thoughts around that?

I asked the same question a while back and was also told to download N63-172H but never given a reason. Maybe someone can chime in. Waiting for the spring to get my tune from BM3

I emailed them. They said it depends on your ECU and ours has the MEVD172H so 172H it is.

Some rolls after remap, 98ron(I live in Europe). Second one on wet road, so numbers 0-100 isn't good

This is custom map, my buddy made it. I have not coded launch control yet, so I am launching with brakes has anyone stage 2 and remapped gearbox?

I had our ZF8 gearbox remapped by BPC, but when I got software update from dealer I lost it. It had slightly faster shifting - you could feel it - and torque limiters were adjusted too.
Most guys are on Stage 1, haven't seen any numbers besides yours on Stage 2 with DP. Yeah, launch control mode won't add anything new compared to just launching from brakes.
So far your 11.83sec 1/4 mile is fastest I've seen for x5 50i.

It's funny that many folks, even car guys still don't realize what has happened here. What we are witnessing is history rewritten so to speak.
A 5300lbs SUV with a non M engine going faster 1/4 mile than stock sport cars like 2017 Porsche 911 Carrera PDK (1/4 mile in 11.9sec) or Corvette 2017 (1/4 mile in 12.0sec) or M3 F80 (11.9sec) etc. It's even more amazing if we compare weight difference about 1500-1700lbs!
Well, I can just say that IMHO N63TU is one of the most underrated engines currently. It's just mind blowing what it can do when tuned.

Well one is a verified track slip and the other a draggy or whatever. Not saying it isn't accurate or wouldn't but it's not a scientific comparison.

Yes, you are right. It's just track slips are so rare to come by, so it's good to at least see Performance Box times like Draggy or VBox.
I'm sure you know better than me that VBox and Draggy 10/20Hz GPS based chips are very accurate and nowadays they are used by almost every car forum, car magazines, many famous motorsport people (who know a lot more than me) use them too. It's just most convenient way to compare and test.

Please don't throw tomatoes at me, but I would say I like Draggy results a bit more than track slips - just because they are more real life results - I mean you will never get in real life perfectly smooth and heavily prepped surface like on track or drag strips. I mean the stuff they use for strips is almost cheating lol. Unlike VBox or Draggy - which you do on real roads with imperfections and without any prep surface. If it was me - I would add some 0.01 to 0.1 sec to strip slips to get real life performance, but of course it's not up to me lol.

I am agree, it is unbelievable that "bus" is going like little M brothers. I am waiting for a spring, I will try to play with some ethanol, will be interesting to check numbers with 10-15% ethanol for now it's fun to play with a snow 😁

Smell you can notice in the parking, it doesn't smell like flowers, but isn't very bad at all. 😃 yes, I will do dyno on the spring with summer wheels
