extended maint plan questions @ brakes

So my car is at the dealership at the moment as my rotors are terribly warped. The SA calls to tell me that the pads are at 7mm which isn't low enough to warrant changing by BMW and the rotors are above the spec also needed for replacement. SA tells me they can turn the rotors to the tune of $640 ;(

What I am having a hard time understanding is that with the extended maintenance plan why they would ask for a single dime of participation from the customer? if the rotors are warped then do what needs to be done for them to be smooth - this seems to go against the extended service plan and why one would purchase it.

has anybody had any experience with this or can you provide any insight on how to handle this

thanks in advance!

Mike

Extended maint doesn't cover the rotors being warped. If pads were 4mm then it would've or rotors below min thickness. Do you still have new car warranty? If so they should do it under that

Yea won't be covered I say ride it out until your brake pads are around 4mm then they will resurface rotors and replace your pads. How long do you have until your extended maint expires?

what is strange is per the BMW service records, this car still has the original brake rotors and pads. Hard to believe this big and heavy, high horsepower vehicle doesn't eat brakes. My previous lexus' and my wife's honda pilot don't go that long on factory brakes

It's just the way extended maint works with this

Regular maint plan doesn't cover it either that's why dealers do it under Reg. New car warranty for vibration while braking

I'm in the exactly same position! I even called bmwna and told them that it's crap. I'm just going to hope my pads get low enough to change by the time my maintenance warranty expires in June.

I definitely won't be extending!
