Visual differences 50i vs 35i

Both pictures you show, are MSport version.
See below, standard 50i comes with the one wider on the bottom, see the right circle.
MSport is wider on the top.
So the exhaust tips are not good indicator of if a 35i or 50i, but the tips are a good indicator of if someone has an MSport or not..

M sport, no matter engine, have same exhaust tip. Non M sport had round circle up until a year or two ago and then they switch to the smaller inverted rectangle.

Standard, Xline, Lux Line have these on the 35i/35d models.



V8 non Msports have these





All Msport models have these.



MPE have the same tips as the Msport.

Electric and lately it appears the 35i models are now showing up with the 50i tips.
