Anyone have an issue taking for F15 on a ferry?

FYI:

a worker on the ferry that I took recently told me BMWs have their alarms set off by the bow thrusters of the ferry often.

He told me they have security on the lower decks, so they should be left unlocked. I was told this when my cars alarm was going off - walked down with him and it was quiet a churchmouse.

I have heard there is a setting you can set that reduces the alarms sensitivity without needing to have the vehicle unlocked. Any know for sure?

I believe double locking the key FOB will disable both the ultrasonic sensor and tilt sensor. Hopefully someone can chime in to confirm.

Correct. Press once to arm, 2nd time within 10 seconds to disable the sensors but keep doors locked

Ditto…the instructions above for deactivating the IMS (interior motion sensor) and tilt sensor. The instructions are also in your owners manual.

You can also get a visual that the IMS & tilt sensors have been deactivated. The red status LED (the clown nose below the interior rear view mirror) will illuminate for approx 3-5 seconds then start its usually slow flash.

This feature has been on BMWs since the remote fob has key has been integrated (the 1990s).

From my F06 & F15 owners manual:

From my e38/e39/e53 era owners manual:

Ya as mentioned above you just need to double press the lock button. I learned this the hard way after hearing "Can the owner of a white bmw please return to their vehicle" several times on a ferry ride to Vancouver Island lol.

Learned this quickly if you have large dogs that tend to not stay in the back when you run into the grocery store on a cool day.
