My local advanced autoparts had a couple bottles on the shelf. I added the whole bottle in a day or two after a fresh oil change at the dealer. I’ve always been hesitant of any additives, but to be frank I was just so over the embarrassment of the noise. I did a ton of research on it and found guys putting it in brand new cars. BMW’s/porsche etc. with good results. decided to give, it’s also popular in the 5.0 mustang community too.
Do I know what it’s making more quiet? Not at all. All I know is I didn’t hear the tick under load this weekend fully warmed up with the windows down. |

Technically you should use 391ml of ceratec to achieve the 6% recommendation advised by liqui moly. This would be ~ 1 1/3 bottles. I only did one. I’ll prolly buy another to have on hand anyway and drop another ~100ml in.

That I don’t know I just saw everyone doing it after a new oil change, some did it in conjunction with the engine flush for best results. Maybe email liqui moly and ask

I listed to the user above recommending the additive to get rid of the noise and it worked! It was so embarrassing driving around with the noise. Only put one bottle in and that was enough to make the noise go away.

I just added a can of Ceratec. Not sure if it’s in my mind but the ticking noise is not there. I drove it for about 10 miles. Not even sure if it would make a difference that fast. We’ll see tomorrow as I will be driving more. I will keep everyone updated. If it does work, what would this stuff do to correct the ticking noise. What is it masking?

Here is a recent (year ago) video explaining exactly what I have been doing before I even knew it was an concern for the BMW or owned one. Used to do this on my 09 Infiniti G37 to help. I had severe lifter tapping... I do make sure to flush every other oil change as apart of routine. Probably been posted before, but just figured it may help:

So, mine came back, but to a lesser degree.
Further reading on Ceratec says you can use 1 bottle of ceratec per 3-5liters of oil. Which means for 6.5 liters of oil in our cars you can use anywhere from 1.33 - 2.1 ish bottles of ceratec. I added another 2/3rds of a bottle. Noise went away again. I’ll update here if it stays away. |

Is this sound similar to what some of you are experiencing?. I get this noise from the top of the engine. Obviously it's more pronounced with the hood open and the engine cover removed but it is still audible with everything in place and standing at the passenger side front which is where the turbo wastegate would be loudest. |

I found the waste gate flap to ewg connector is loose and it is rattling. Marked with red in picture.
Is it normal ? I suspect this could be the reason. Also, does the flap connector moves in/out while you push and pull ? Marked with blue in the picture. |
