Another one of slow cars having their necks wrung around the 'Ring, some of them aren't that slow.

An M2 is seen totalling onto its roof at Brunchen, the excellent narrator here after videoing the barrier crash and flip by pure chance deciding then not to take his own E92 onto the track which he was planning and to just spectate. He explains what it could well cost out of the 30 euro's a lap you pay if things go wrong. The driver of the red M2 wore a helmet and was uninjured.

* Just spotted something in the main pic of a possible hard plastic tyre obstruction wedged behind the rear wheel well next to the exhaust tail pipes and can explain why the car suddenly lost grip on the loaded outside tyre if it ran over this. This would show the driver was in full control of the car and is in no way responsible for what happened.

So you may want to do a trip to the 'Ring on your own, would maybe suit some better. Here this punter takes his brake and suspension modified M3 E46 2 dr around pretty quick with I think Cup 2 tyres fitted which made a big difference. I understand the wider rear fitment wheels were fitted on the front as well.

They imagine they have F1 brakes coming up to the Adenauer Forest turn, the ones with Carbon Ceramic discs fare almost better.

1. ''Drunken'' red Passat at 5:52
2. Teen driving dad's F360 cab even has time to check his texts when he goes off @6:17

It does seem regardless of marc, badge, price, age, skill; finding the edge or respecting it is lure of adrenalin addiction.

Some knowledge of the course's lay out would eb beneficial I think, or a nav suggesting what's coming up. You would think knowing where this youtube corner is would be a must.

Still good on organizers for having the patience and allowing the public to have a crack. You can see why its growing in attraction as nanny state governance, litigation, licensing, cost etc get more and more restrictive around the globe.

RS1 engined S1 in Misha's hands terrorizes 911 GT3's, must see.

Misha mentions 'Haldex controller' in the vid which is the electric control for the 4 wheel drive system named Haldex by Audi on the RS cars that brings in rear wheel drive when needed. The cars' rear lifted momentarily under braking over a bump @9:11 probably confusing the controller for a second which was caught by Misha who of course knows every nook and cranny of the track.
Notice how the clever silver/grey GT3 lets Misha past and shadows him with a full view of how he 'tortures' the green GT3 who wasn't in a good mood at the end...

If you want to see Misha on the limit with sweat pouring off him then this one with him in a Brit race prepped and tuned Civic (with no power steering or a/c) sees a GT3 RS cracking under pressure and eventually letting him by.

Not a bad ad for actor Richard Wilson's Honda Civic that he uses in One foot in the Grave tv series

Huge thanks to Dale at Bridge to Gantry for such a clear, no-fluff breakdown of the myths around the Nürburgring Nordschleife. If you’re planning to head there, this is essential reading.

Here are a few extra thoughts from someone who’s been through a few public sessions — hopefully they add useful perspective:

1. Timing & availability
You can’t just rock up and expect the track to be open every day. As Dale says, even though the board may say “open”, those Touristenfahrten sessions often shift to manufacturer testing or racing events, sometimes last-minute. Weather can kill a day too in the Eifel. Always build in an extra day, and check before you travel.
2. Ticketing & procedure
It’s not “just drive on.” You’ll likely park, tow your gear, buy your ticket, then approach the barriers. Don’t assume cheap or last-minute rates.
3. Car choice & speed
Yes, it’s tempting to go for max horsepower rental, but sometimes the fun is in managing what you’ve got. I’ve seen people in “modest” cars have far more fun than someone in a supercar who’s stressed about radar, damages, insurance. You’ll often be surprised how dynamic a lighter car can be.
4. Insurance & legality
This is serious. Even though it’s a “tourist drive”, it’s still a public road when you’re out there. If your insurance doesn’t explicitly cover it, or you’re not fully compliant (mirrors, lights, tires legally fit), you’re risking huge bills.
5. Learning vs racing
Playing Forza or rFactor gives you familiarity, yes, but nothing replaces the physical track: elevation changes, grip changes, camber, braking into unseen corners. If you treat the first lap like a video game, you’re asking for trouble.
6. Prep & respect
Take time to warm your tires, manage brakes, use correct lines, respect faster traffic. The Nordschleife is legendary, but that also means it’s ruthless. If you catch your breath on a straight, don’t assume it’s level or safe.

If you’re serious about researching the day-out fit, lap prep, car setup and post-track debriefs, you might find some additional reading and resources here: https://racingmaster.net/

There are articles on gear, track etiquette, and road-legal setups that tie in nicely with what Dale outlines.

Safe laps, enjoy the experience, and remember: it’s about the journey — not just the speed.
When you say 'tyres legally fit' on UK cars and non German they can be one size larger as opposed to German home cars which are obliged to keep with the tuv approved rules.
'Ring track car insurance has to be purchased in UK for RHD cars as it cannot be arranged at the Nurburgring office any more, they only do it for LHD cars.

TF is a public road so trackday insurance would not be valid anyway. Only certain German road insurance policies now cover TF. Most road insurance policies in Europe specifically exempt the Nordschleife on their policies.

Nürburgring trackday insurance is increasingly harder to come by, the vast majority of people are uninsured.

But where is this office for buying insurance you speak of?

See if you can guess what went wrong mechanically with the slow moving cars emitting strange noises and excessive smoke around the 'Ring, the crash damaged ones are self explanatory!

With the growing popularity of TF, more and more insurance companies exclude TF, even when it's classified as a one way toll road. Like someone said before, most cars are not insured driving TF. Only exceptions are the specific Nurburgring rental cars but they have fairly high own risks, wich you can pay of for a fairly high price

So if you don't want to take any risks at all, rent a car.

We continue and unless you've been living under a rock then you'll notice that the modified white Peugeot 406 @ 6:12 is similar to the one used in the film Taxi about a Marseille taxi driver getting involved in a crazy chase with his fare on board being a not very successful police inspector.
