Tire Side Wall

Is the damage to my sidewall purely cosmetic or cause for concern? I just noticed this the other day and I'm not exactly sure how it happened. it's about 1-2mm deep. I don't think it was caused from a curb, so maybe a pothole or hitting some road debris.

Thanks!

Are you sure it wasn't a curb? There's a little curb rash on your rim.

Anyways, you should be fine, IMHO. That little bit of rubber on the sidewall isn't doing anything (very, very little if at all) for the integrity of the tire.

Seems like quite a bit of rubber to come off from a curb. My wife's been pretty careful after curbing one of the rims already and she doesn't believe she hit a curb.

Given the wheel has curb rash and the tire has the brown swirls from curbing it certainly seems likely. But to answer you question, if it's holding air fine then it's not a concern.

It's fine. You definitely grazed a curb or something.

Just monitor it in case it starts to bubble but looking at it doesn't look to bad. Your wheel appears to have taken more damage.
