I have the vrsf on my f85 2015 and love the sound.
Price was very good compared to others. Setup atm: downpipes, custom tune, afe intake, vtf springs to the lowest. |

I'm using active autowerks on my F86 with a DME tune. Sound is amazing and burbles on downshifts but not obnoxious like the burbles you get from a tune.

Pro: less smell Get most of performance gain filter out raspiness and noise Depend on #cell, you can get rid of CEL without a tune Protect the Earth? Con: Not get maximum performance Expensive Expensive Expensive |

Honestly, unless you are going to run Pure or Weistec or other aftermarket turbos and really try to squeeze every bit of power from the S63tu, the performance difference is going to be very minimal. When you are playing with 650+ horsepower, 10-15 hp isn't going to be very noticeable. With cats, you'll cut back on the smell substantially. My FD3s was catless and so is my turbo Elise. I smelled like gas and oil after driving the FD and I still smell like... car... after driving the Lotus. A lot of people can't handle that. For a DD, I wouldn't go catless. As mentioned though, catted downpipes cost more.
If you are super into the pops and bangs, you may want catless. But honestly, don't be into that. 🙊 |

So what's the ave gains for catted and catless downpipes on the S63tu? Is it only 10-15hp? |

That's harder to say since most people do a stage 2 tune at the same time. But, bm3 claims about an additional 4% hp and 3-4% tq mostly above 4,500 rpm compared to stage 1 (which is stock downpipes). They have an overlay of stock vs stage 1 vs stage 2 if you want to look at it.

Yes. Stage 2 requires downpipes. That gives you a ballpark. I haven't been able to find a lot in the way of F85/6 dynos. There is more if you expand to other platforms running the S63tu. Part of the issue is the vast majority don't go from stock to downpipes and dyno. They tune at the same time... and most people don't seem to bother doing custom tunes on a dyno. They just do an OTS and call it a day. Those that do are running meth/ethanol, aftermarket turbos, etc. So if you are looking for what downpipes add on a stock tune for a F85/6, you likely won't find that info.
With that said, I saw one thread in the F10 forum where the person dynoed with decatted downpipes untuned and then tuned. He found only a 2hp gain peak. With a tune, a little more than stage 1. But, more area under the curve overall. There are some other F10 threads with various results. Not too many before and after without a tune. Most consider them a supporting mod. |

Understood. Guess I should have clarified that I already have the Stage 1 bm3 tune and wasn't thinking of just adding downpipes to a stock tune.
Looks like the 4% gain from Stage 1 to Stage 2 with downpipes is about 23hp (give or take): (1.2*567)-(1.16*567) = 680-657 I know it's not that simple but probably a good estimate. |
