Deposit paid for 2017 X5M
Hi, bit of a newbie on this forum. I've previously had an E53 (and 2 E30s before that!) and am currently in an E70 40D...but I've just put down a deposit at my main dealer for a 2017 X5M - refundable until I've had a test drive!
I've got a couple of questions for all you experts Although it's on a 2017 plate (I'm in the UK) it's build date seems to be June 2016. I rang BMW to confirm the MY and they confirmed that its idrive is version 4++, whatever that is! I was expecting id5. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between id4++ and id5 please? Are there any other differences between 2016 and 2017 models? One other question - it has comfort access and, certainly in the UK, that's made the cars very easy to nick without the key. The dealer told me the keys 'go to sleep' if they don't move for a few minutes. Can anyone confirm this? Sorry for all the questions, I'll be back with pictures if I buy it :-) |

If you don't mind me asking, what is the price and the mileage on the car. I'm based in the UK and have had an E70 30D, 40D, then changed to F85 2018 last year. I've then been keeping an eye on prices and values since. Also, is it from a main dealer?

I was talking to them about it last week. I noticed that the price went up by £1990 over the weekend as last week it was £46995 so I thought wtf? |

I'm beginning to dislike the salesman...he told me that £48,985 was a 'mistake' and it should have been £1000 more! I couldn't even wring a second year warranty out of him :-( Did you not want it even at £46995? Have you found any others that are more interesting? Trouble is, prices of these are all over the place. |

I have a written finance quote from last week for the £46995 but my work got in the way. I had a video sent to me but the car hadn't been prepped at that time and the driver's seat bolster looked suspect.
For that reason I held off while it was being prepped with a view to looking at it in person this week. Over the weekend I saw the price rise and when I called yesterday I was told it had been sold. Yes, it was originally on the website at 46,995 Last edited by contractor; 02-18-2020 at 03:51 PM.. |

Thanks again, I do appreciate your replies on this.
I did put a £1000 refundable deposit on the car until I had a test drive. I fully understand if I'm about to ask too much, but if you're able to email me the original price I would be very grateful. Thanks again. |

Amazing, thank you. If you're ever in Brighton I owe you a beer!
Do you think the price is because of the potential finance deal or would it have been that price anyway? I've just found the auction where they bought it, although I don't know what price they paid! https://webcache.googleusercontent.c...nt=firefox-b-d |

Yes I saw the auction thing too. The price on the quote is that price because that was what it was up for on the BMW website, plain and simple. Although no way I'd pay that APR or go with that balloon figure as both are comedy
Your salesman sounds like a nob. 2nd year warranty thing is also entirely doable - cost to dealer is 300 quid. |

Sounds sketchy, I’d walk.
Very awesome of contractor to expose some shenanigans.

Yes the ID4 did put me off but tbh I'd stopped considering the car once I'd heard it was sold so haven't thought anymore about it. I'd avoid AT or anywhere not AUC for an M, but that's just me.

I've just stuck a deposit down on this. Still needs a good clean and a bit of prep work but I am looking forward to getting it.
I've had an M50d for the last 3 years and only really got it for the economy and as I only get 25mpg it's a waste of time, hence going back to petrol. |

I got my 67 reg f85 in September 2018 with 11k miles for £54k had a 09 3.0sd before that, before that a 3.0d e53 and before that an e53 4.8is. I love these things and the f85 is just mind blowing. I average in day to day driving 20-22mpg which includes a good few blasts.
Mine was auc from a dealer and while not major things the warranty has been used. We use it for long distance mainly and it eats miles and is great fun while being safe with great tech and making you feel very 'looked after' if you see what I mean. I will probably look to get the next model when it's a year old if the right deal comes along but if anything the seats put me off. I wouldn't not buy privately as I know how well mine gets treated and it's now on 18k miles and looks as good as when I bought it. I spray the underside with clear cavity wax every 3 months and the interior is always spotless, I even clean under the bonnet every wash. My M2C was the dealers managers car and when I dropped in to look it wasn't kept like it is now so sometimes the right private sale could be better. I always think you can tell by talking to someone if they look after their stuff! |

I bought mine which was an March 2018 registered car with 5.7k on the clock for £54k last March 2019. Its more stock and I would have preferred the 21's and sunroof, but got a good deal on my old E70 for this - rushed the purchase a little. But I keep an eye on the Autotrader and noticed one last night. It is literally new with only 7.5k miles on the clock. Has sunroof, cold weather pack. But not rear seat entertainment and no B&O.
