X5M or M Sport bumper cover replacement

We have a standard, non M Sport bumper (cover) on our 2018 X5. My wife has indicated she prefers the M / M Sport bumper look. I've searched and, spending on my terms, either get nothing or 23K results. I have two questions:

- Does the OEM X5M / M Sport bumper directly fit on the F15 fitted with a standard bumper? I presume the brackets and clips are the same, but want to verify.

- Aside from used OEM bumpers, many of which are a bit damaged, are there third party suppliers that provide a good quality OEM X5M look or something similarly sporty(ier)?

Any other thoughts/ advice? Thanks

I have an f85 bumper installed on my f15. It is not a direct bolt on whatsoever. Many parts need to be swapped over to make it work. A few tabs need shaved down, you need the belly pan, lower fender liners, and duct pieces for an f85 as well. If you can get the bumper for an good price it would be worth it but definitely find a competent body shop to do the install for you.

I did a conversion on my 2018 to the MSport front and side sills. SMASHE is correct...it is direct bolt on, but you need a few pieces behind the bumper - on my invoice it was the retrofit kit for 600, PDC sensors for 300 - i bought my front bumper new for 1000, and side skirts for 950, and then the grills - i did open style for 178.00.

Because mine is Dark Graphite metallic, the pieces came primed, and then it was 1500 in paint.

So the exterior conversion, including labor of 575, was $5500.00. I opted to not do the rear bumper, as that would have been an addt'l 2500 or so. I just had the lower rear part of my existing bumper painted body color.

I did look for slightly used, but its so hard to really tell the condition from pics on Ebay and such.

Hope this helps.

If you have the so called diaper center lower piece that's of a different color than the bumper, you can either color match the bumper or get a different trim piece that looks much better. Search on the forum for it, quite a few members have done the conversion.

OK, this is exactly what I need to know. Is it the same for the "M-Sport" bumper I see posted on Ebay regularly? I'm not sure I know the difference between the F85 versus the F15 M Sport bumper. Apologies in advance if I'm a bit remedial

In the front? I thought that (the diaper) was on the rear bumper of the car?

Wildly helpful. Yikes. Do you happen to have the part numbers for the:

- Retrofit kit
- Side Skirts
- PDC Sensors

Also, What do you mean by "open style" Thanks Much.

Just to be clear there are 2 different options you have:
1. From X-Line to M-Sport (F15 to F15)
This one is easier and can be done cheaper/faster, pretty much a direct fit, just air ducts needed
https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=23944537
part list mentioned here
https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1267817&page=3

2. X-Line/M-Sport to X5M (F15 to F85)
This one has more aggressive look and being discussed here. Will need more mods and work and will cost quite extra.

Correct, rear.

Too much work to convert the front to M sport.

You can try a BMW non sport areo kit many of us have done. Search my threads for info and photos.

From my invoice, thru Ben@RGSport:

1 BMW.51118062002 BMW F15 X5 M Sport Front Bumper 1,000.00

1 BMW.F15.MBC.KIT BMW F15 M Sport Front Bumper Retrofit Kit 600.00

1 BMW.F15.M.SS.KIT BMW F15 X5 M Sport Side Sill Kit 950.00 950.00T

2 BMW.66209274428 BMW PDC Sensor 150.00 300.00T

1 RGS.BMW.F15.MGT RG Sport BMW F15 X5 M Sport Grill Trim Set (Unpainted) 100.00

1 BMW.F15.M.OG BMW F15 X5 M Sport Open Grill Set

I forgot the small grill in the actual front bumper for 100 - or this could have been the blades on the lower side grills.

The front lower grills come in 3 styles - 1 both closed, 2 both open lower, and 3, 1 open and 1 1/2 closed (for the V8 engines with the additional oil cooler behind it)

Perfect, I needed (and didn't understand exactly) this distinction.

I concur!
It was my understanding that the front was a pita to switch, so like you, I just added the "non msport aero kit" to the front bumper. Together with lowering springs, it looks awesome IMHO.
Then I added the rear M-sport bumper with new brackets etc. to get rid of the "diaper" look. This because if you fix the front, the rear "diaper" will be even more annoying to look at at..
