Thinking about buying an X5 M
Hey members, currently have a 15' 3.5 X5 MSport that I just love. Purchased CPO and it will be out of warranty soon. Haven't had any major issues and it's been a great daily driver. Thinking about my next one being a CPO X5 M. I'm not getting any younger and always wanted a real M car not just the MSport package.
Any suggestions on which year to look for CPO? Was thinking 2016 and up. Any major issues with the M that I should be aware of before becoming an owner? All thoughts and comments are appropriated. |

2017 and up has Apple CarPlay if that is important to you.
Steering column is a known issue. A number of folks have had to have their transfer case replaced. Brakes are generally very squeaky but various fixes for that, some better than others. |

All years are pretty good. Options are really the same across the board, biggest difference is upgraded idrive and carplay starting in 2017 if those matter to you. dealers will be starting to get more 2017s off 3 year leases so you may find better prices on 2016s. Expected all prices to come down once the new G05 X5M start to get delivered, so may be wise to patiently wait.

I have a 2018 and there is no Android Auto and you have to pay a one off fee for Apple Car Play.

I'm looking to buy an X5M as well and posts on this forum have been super helpful - thanks everyone.
I've narrowed down the options I want (2017+, Executive Package, Diver Assistance Package), but wanted to know if anyone had problems on higher mileage vehicles. It is possible that I find one with 40k or 50k on the clock - do most of the known issues (steering column, transfer case) happen before then? Also thinking about going all in on Dinan mods (exhaust, tune, air filter), but could be swayed another direction. |
