f15 50i Brake pads

My car ran out of warranty and needs the brakes pads. Do I need to change all 4 brake pad sensors? They are like $25 each.

If you did not trigger the sensor warning, you can reuse it. Just change whichever sensor that triggered.

How can you tell its been trigger? I still have about 2000 miles on rear and 9000 miles on the front?

The sensor head resembles a pencil eraser. It has two wires embedded into it (they cannot be seen). As the brake pads wear, the sensor gets closer and closer to the rotor until it finally begins making contact. Once that happens, the rotor starts chewing off the head of the sensor (just like using an eraser) until one or both of the wires are severed. This is what triggers different levels of brake warnings on the iDrive. As long as the sensor has not been worn down and is still 100% intact, it is reusable. If it has been worn at all, if you don't know how to check them or if you are unsure, just order new ones. They are cheap enough.

Great explanation! The sensors are $25 each total $50. Just want to save some money if not damage.
