1/2 Mile Wannagofast Jumbolair -X6M
Went last week to the WannagoFast event in Ocala. A 2 day event at Jumbolair Airport, super well coordinated and fun.
Given that it was a last minute trip I did not have the opportunity to register my car to run on Saturday or Sunday but thankfully a good friend of mine had extra passes for Sunday. The cars that attended the event were incredible, from 1600 hp Nissan GTR, 991.2 GT3, 918 Spyder, Maclaren 570, 675, 720s, Ford GT, Twin Turbo Lambos, Aventador S etc. There was a youtube call out, so a lot of the youtube car bloggers attended the event. Given that I did not have the opportunity to sign up on Saturday, my friend was kind enough to allow me to run his brand new Lamborghini Performante with 600 miles on the clock all Saturday morning. I managed to run the fastest pass of the weekend on his car running the 1/4 mile: 132.08 mph and the 1/2 mile at 158.11 mph (vehiclevirgins supercharged Huracan ran a 163 mph in the 1/2). On Sunday I managed to run the X6M for fun. Although the X6M is fast, compare to the cars there it did not seem that fast. The X6M did not trap the fastest speed but in all of runs except "one" the X6M got to the 1/2 mile before the other cars (not necessarily at a faster speed) due to the great launch with the AWD. My first race was agains a 991.2 GT3, when the green light went on, I was surprise how far ahead within couple of seconds the X6 was ahead of the GT3 fighting to get traction, as the 1/2 mile was approaching I could see the GT3 on the rear view mirror approaching fast but it was to late, although it clock about 10MPH faster in the 1/2 than the X6. This went on like this all day, the X6 will leap ahead of every car and I will see them come faster but 1/2 mile was not enough to catch up. Unfortunately the event was not about getting from A-B faster but about trapping the highest speed. I had the opportunity to go against the Maclaren 570 ( I think he messed up the start - you catch a blur in the video below), Corvettes, Challenger SRT, etc. What I was really surprise with is the X6M fastest trap was: 1/4 mile: 113.7 and 1/2@ 138.6 (with a truck full with luggage, camera equipment, bike rack) which when you compare to the Performante, the 20 mph difference gain in the 1/4 mile by the Lambo where maintain though the rest of next 1/4 mile to the half which I found to be quite impressive, so the Performante does not accelerate faster after the 1/4 mile. The fastest pass in the class of the X6 was a 147mph pass by a heavily modified Cadillac CTS-V. The fastest past of the weekend was a drag Corvette Z06 at 213.37 mph, several Nissan GTRs were in the 190mph to 200mph. Also I am sure many here will be please to hear that the Trackhawk fastest speed in the event was 2mph slower than the X6M (Dinan S1), but the Trackhawk is definitely fast for a factory SUV. Overall it was fun really fun, it is incredible that a SUV is capable of driving 5 hrs straight, getting on the track, going against all these super cars and beating many of them from A to B and managing to drive back in comfort another 5 more hours to Miami. Although I do not have any video of the event I found this on youtube. There is couple of shots of the X6M in the first two minutes of the video. BTW the blue blur at the beginning of the video at the 6 sec mark when the title "Wannagofast" appears is the X6M ahead of the Maclaren. Video: Last edited by aparedes; 01-27-2018 at 10:08 AM.. |

Interesting. I'm set to roll race a TH on the 1/4 mile this Friday. |

What's a X6 weigh? Would be more intriguing if X5.

“While the two muscle-wagons are true heavyweights—the X5 M weighs in at 5,015 lbs, the fastback X6 M at 22 lbs less.” No Options.
According to multiple BMW releases in 2014 IF, both are optioned the same. If you ordered a true base X6M without any packages and weighed it against a fully loaded X5M, it might be 150lbs lighter. |

Thank you. I am refinishing them now and Vossen was kind enough to lend me a set, well 2 different set of of their new wheels. Running HF1 on passenger side and HF2 (Not out yet - they did a photo shoot on the car yesterday). The quality of their new Hybrid Forged line is incredible.

Of course there are faster cars out there. However, what I find fascinating is that X6M (or X5M) can be faster than many of those cars that got there on a tow bed....
I mean X5M/X6M can tow those cars AND be faster than them lol - this is check and mate in my book (at least I'd be so embarrassed if some SUV/SAV was faster than my beloved fancy and expensive exotic 2 seater lol) I think many people just don't realize that |

I assume you're referring to the X6 as the hatchback

At best it's a crossover. Certainly not a wagon.

I feel the X6M is a sports car with space. I feel this was the original intend of BMW, as I believe the X6 (non M) has a wider track and and lower ride height that the X5. But I must admit I find the back of the X5M a lot more sexy and aggressive than that of the X6. |
