I'll never wait so long to get new tires again!

The X5M got new shoes this week. Why the hell did I wait so long! I got 25,000 miles out of the OEM super sports and the dealer said I could get another few thousand as the tread wasn't to the wear bars yet, but I knew I had lost too much grip and it was holding me back! It's like falling in love all over again. The cornering on new tires in this car is sooo much better. I think it happened subtly over the last 10,000 miles where I would back off a bit accelerating around turns, because I could feel the tires lose grip a little. I could still take the turn faster than an SUV should go, but I had forgotten the cornering in the first 15,000 miles. Do others replace tires before they technically need to be replaced to keep up the grip. I think I'm planning to do every 15,000 miles now.

I've changed my tires at 48 000 km (30 000 miles) and there were still good for another 5000km sure.

It depends a lot on how you driving

On my previous E70 30d (ok , power is not the same) I drove 55 000km before changing the tires.

There were Bridgestone Dueller RFT 20".

That's pretty impressive though. My first round on pirellis was less than half that. I hope to get 15,000mi out of this set. I find I don't drive it as hard as I did at first. I do agree though, it's nice to have the grip back.

I had been driving it easier too, but now that I have the grip back I've reverted back to when I first got it. Thanks for the 15,000 mi. number. That confirms what I had in my head.
