I just received my car back from dealership and the bm3 tune was erased after they updated the software. Now I try to update it and it get to 86% and it fails. I have tried 4-5 times. It's 2017 x5. The car has all types of errors and won't start.

That really sucks. My 2017 X5 was also recently flashed by BMW, erasing my BM3 tune. I haven't tried re-flashing the tune yet, and after reading this I'll hold off and see what you're able to work out. I've subbed to this thread. I hope you get it resolved. Please keep us posted. What errors are you seeing?

Hang in there. Best of luck to you.

Can you share some additional details? Do we have to send the DME to BM3?

You have the option of sending to pro tuning freaks or finding someone local. Around me there are a few ppl that do it but consider between $600-$750 to do the dme unlocking
I'm located in Jersey

I'd contact ProtuningFreaks. I'm sure you're not the only person who's encountered this. Make sure you're running the current version of their software. Did you try the "Online Recode" option? I remember having to do that a couple of times back when I originally flashed my tune.

Pro tuning freaks remoted into my pc and got my car back to stock. My dme is locked and can't be tuned. The only way of tuning is by sending my dme in or going to someone local to unlock my dme. They will unlock for free but I have to pay for shipping both ways.

So your vehicle is operational again? That's fantastic news. At least you're past that horrible obstacle.

I would tell the dealer not upgrade the car software when doing the services.

Glad to hear that. There's nothing more scary than having a broken vehicle, regardless of the cause. Do keep us posted.

Seems like jb4 is the only way to go for now. Going to research if that will work.

Happy to hear your car is working again
Jb4 will work, I was going to do bm3 until I found out my software update in March locked my dme. I waited for months for (April-currently) and bought a jb4 because protuning freaks did not have a solution to the dme lock nor did they have an update on when they would have it. I've been going back and forth with logs with jb4 with different adjustments currently
