Jump starting with the F15
so recently, my mom's car wouldn't start at a shopping mall parking lot, so I had to drive over there with jumper cables to jump start the car. as soon as I opened the hood of my F15, I freaked out lol, I couldn't locate where the battery was, and where to connect the cables lol. being really confused, I opened and started reading the manual and figured out where to connect the cables. so strange how one end is easy to locate but the other one is a weird looking bolt on the right side when you open the hood. just thought if any of you guys had funny incidents like this, trying to jump start someone's car. most cars I had before were japanese cars so battery location was obvious.

The front engine connection point of the battery for ease of access is located (at least for the 50i) closest to the driver's side. The positive terminal is located under the red cap with the big PLUS sign. Just a few inches below this positive red terminal exposed wide open on a piece of grounded metal is the negative terminal all by itself. I'll take a picture tomorrow to show it since I'm removing my RaceChip anyway. Here is a picture of where both the main battery (left) and the accessory battery (right) are located in trunk compartment:

This is why I come here... I didn't realize we have a separate accessory battery. Makes sense considering how much electronics there is and how much of it operates both before the engine is started and after it is shut down.

The owner manual is talking about the jump-start by using the battery of another vehicle. It doesn't specify the detailed step by step process of how F15 helps others jump-start.
Is there the official procedure for this? Just curious. Thank you. |

Last month my van needed a jump start and x5 was the only car around. I was gonna unscrew the plastic cover in the back but gave up. Called road side assistant instead. I didn't know there was a connectors in the front. Please post a photo where plus and minus connectors are. Thanks
