Intro from new F85 owner
Greetings all. Recently pulled the trigger on a 2016 F85, should have it next week. A little nervous about potential mechanical issues and whatnot but much more excited about it than nervous. I have always been very modest in vehicle choice so this is a big step up for me.
I am in the KCMO area. Anyone else that is active on these forums in the area? Would be curious to hear about where you take your car for service and other stuff like that. The car has had some exterior mods so right now my biggest question is whether to try to retrofit CarPlay somehow. There are a lot of threads on this topic and I can't seem to determine if there is a preferred option. Looking forward to being an active participant here, though I am pretty ignorant on these cars compared to most of the forums I would suspect. NM |

How many miles? I also have a 2016, besides going through tires fairly rapidly I've had no other major issues as of 28,000 miles. The car is a beast you'll love it. Always keep extra oil in the trunk and monitor it through I-drive so you know there's oil in there. Try to keep tires inflated properly also check this through I-drive. Make sure all maintenance has been done in a timely fashion. 1200 mile service etc... Good luck

About 40k miles.
What is your setup on wheels/tires? I like the wheel/tire setup on this vehicle but not many options for tires. I will be running 295/30/22s in the front and 335/25/22s in the rear. I wouldn't be surprised at all if I replace those with 20s or 21s. Roads seem to be at least decent in my area compared to what other people say about roads where they live. |

Nice one. I'm just like you and pulled the trigger on one recently as well. Have you got a picture of the car.
Did you think about the G05 before buying this? What was your previous ride? |

I just bought a 2015, and I wanted to go 22s and decided to go 21s for smoother ride.
Keep in mind that the car is still very stiff even with sport mode off. I went 285/35/21 and 325/30/21 rear and I love it. With some spacers as well! |

I like the look of the 22s but who knows it might be too rough and I will switch to 21s or 20s. Tire availability is certainly a concern. Toyos are an option but if I am out of town and get a flat it could cause some problems.
Anyway, the car I purchased has a lot of black involved. BSM exterior, black ext. merino interior, black kidney grilles, black side vents (or whatever they are), and the rims are Savini Black di Forza, also black. Not everyone's taste but I couldn't be happier. No B&O but most other options are included. I considered the G05 but I would have wanted a custom order and my soon-to-be former ride starting having issues. |

Welcome KCT! Like gqgambler said, get ready to smile__if not laugh out loud__every time you get behind the wheel! Oh sure, the car is fast and all, but where it really impresses you, is how well it handles! We took ours on a BMWCCA Drive (yeah, my wife was shocked I chose the SU__excuse me, A__V over one of our sportscars) and I could've easily run over all the good handling cars there in the curves!
I'm another relatively recent 2016 X5M owner (wife scouted us out a CPO w/15k miles a few hours away from us last December). Its (one) previous owner maxed it out with all the available BMW production options, then added half the dealer installed accessories. Still on a roll, he must've spotted a Dinan pamphlet on the back of the salesman's credenza and kept going, adding their CAI, exhaust, Stg II piggyback ECU and lowered front springs! Don't get me wrong, as a performance car enthusiast all my life, I'm thrilled. The fact that it was my wife picked it out, having "wanted a white X5" since we moved to Florida has me still wondering if I'm going to wake up and discover it was all a dream... Note that my wife wanting an X5 wasn't so unexpected, this being her fourth (4th) since 2002. Her last one, a 2011 35iSport had 122k miles, and we'd been waiting on the new '19s to come out, but were disappointed after seeing what they did to the grilles. Obligatory picture__I don't need to be asked [/]

That is a great find. Makes me wonder though, are lowering springs generally as popular on the M as they are on the 50i or 35i? I was expecting the stock springs to be sufficient but now you’ve made me curious.

Since H&R released the VTF, it has been as popular as the KW V3 in X5M/X6M community. I rarely seen or sold X5M/X6M owner regular spring.

Took delivery of the car today. Couldn't be happier. Come on though, I am coming from a 2004 Nissan Maxima lol. I had a busy day at work so I only snapped two bad photos. More to come. Is there enough detail to see if you think springs and/or spacers would add anything? Even on 22s I am perfectly fine with the ride.
While considering springs/spacers, the only other mod I am doing for sure is black chrome front and rear roundels. And I got some black and gray vinyl overlays for the white and blue parts of the roundel. My "dream" mod would be a set of Vossen HF-1s. Love the look on the F85. Cheers! |

Sweet ride.
If you're set on the black chrome roundels, i have a set coming off my car pretty soon. Assuming i don't ruin them when taking them off, let me know if you want them. I decided i preferred the gloss black versions so I'm replacing the black chrome. |
