Big F85 rubber attracts big road hazards
My better half reports low tire pressure left rear on center display.
Loud clunking noise that speeds up and slows down along with F85 speed. Local dealer didn't have the 21" Dunlop DSST on hand. Could have one by Monday. Made an appointment. Busy local tire store said that could have one today. Asked them to get it for me and they called about three hours later to let me know of its arrival. Cancelled local dealer appointment. $555 later tire replaced. Photo below of huge nail removed from tire. Pen in photo for perspective. I am not one to take advantage of warranties. For some reason though, maybe because replacement wheels are over $1,500 and the tires are pricey I decided to take advantage of the dealers offer of coverage. So far after a year the insurance covered a lost keyfob ($480) and this tire. Just picked up a 6MT E53 with Michelin Latitude 18" rubber and its so quiet. Bottom line is that now all hope is lost of convincing my better half that run flats are noisy and heavy and ride like a concrete couch and we would be better off with non-runflats such as the Michelin PSS. |

The tire shop says that they usually don't repair run flats. They probably do though. Maybe I should have took the bad tire and had them repair it and I could have used it as a spare in an emergency.
