Issue with Akrapovic Exhaust
Hi guys-
I've had the Akra exhaust on my F85 for almost a year now and have been having issues with the valves. The first time I had been out of town for about a month and when I returned both valves would not open. I removed the motors and tested each, both were fine. I ended up realizing that the valves inside the exhaust had actually seized/stuck so I have to free them by hand. I drove the car for a while, then was out of town for about a week and the same thing happened to one of the sides. Wanted to see if anyone else has had similar trouble or if anyone had advice on how to prevent this going forward. Thanks! Sanj |

I have another vehicle with exhaust cut outs and every so often I just spray them with some silicone or WD40. Dampness and carbon sometimes sealed them up.

I'm about to get my third execution.
My first exhaust had squeaky flaps. Since no WD 40 has helped. The oil is burnt down quite fast. My present one has a flap that does not open anymore. Is rusted. But no problem Akrpovic is improving, if need be. |

I had Ak exhaust for a year, I don't have problem like you said.
But mine have wired problem too. When I open it and push gas a little bit deep, exhaust will automatically close. But when I use sport mode, it won't happen. Dose any one has this problem? |

I have had a valve issue on an Audi exhaust by Akrapovic before. Valves would get stuck in closed position and not open up. Typical problem with valved exhausts, also seen with other valved exhausts on different platforms (armytrix, IPE, akrapovic, etc) on 991 models.

Installing the oem valve switch onto the Akra is tricky. there is a metal wire push rod to push the valve open and close also have to remove from the oem exhaust, that is part of the valve unit! That rod needs to be installed in the correct position in between the value and the exhaust flaps. there is no instruction how to do it. and that rod position is different on the Akra exhaust. I remember I have to flip it sideway! If that push rod installed in wrong position, it may create problems. also make sure the installer did not bend or mess up that wire push rod. if it bended, the valve will not close and open smooth or maybe even got stuck! Hope this help for future member to install Akra to the F85 /86

might be a silly question but how do you know both valves or single are stuck? on my akra i have bm3 sport open option on and i hear the difference on comfort and sport but don't think i would be able to distinguish if one valve is stuck?
