I think that ticking sound may come from injectors, and that’s the best case scenario. The worst?? Turbo failure also makes that sound. And let’s hope it’s not...... |

I don’t know what to say.....Sorry to hear that, hope your mechanic was wrong. Anyhow, flash stock map back, go to dealership, there still a chance they won’t notice your car was tuned before.
Keep us updated, there must be a reason for stage 1 map that can make a rod bend. Bad gas, plugs, or dirty oil deposit? I do hope it’s just a bad injector or lifter, and a small pain to pay. |

Stumbled upon interesting situation on BM3 facebook group page. One guy was flagged by a dealer for aftermarket tune (BM3). He got engine issues too (his timing skipped). Dealer refused to fix it under warranty. He threatened with court, eventually dealer agreed to fix it for free under warranty, but said in the future the car will be inspected by a field engineer for every claim. The guy got lucky I guess.

I kind of regret to lose $5k extended warranty for this stupid tune. Now, I’m about to run back stock tune for a while, until these issues sorted out. |

Sounds totally normal to me , just like my stock one sounds and like others have mentioned very common with other BMW engines as my n54 sounded very similar.

It may cost you a bit, but consider the time saving, and you don’t have to worry about it all the time. It worth it! |
