Here you go. You can adjust the settings in the iDrive menu to modify both the tailgate and unlock buttons. Still playing to see what other key press/hold combos I can find.

How is the transmission? I've read it's not a dual clutch, but the shift lever is the same as in my M5. Curious how it behaves. Can you shift it into park? Or is it like the DCT where it won't go into park until you turn the car off?

Will it roll back if you let off the brake? Or does it creep like most automatics?

Thanks, I still don't understand why BMW did not change the key fob of the F80/82 M3/M4....?

Transmission is amazing, and having rented the new M5 recently to test it out, I can say that the X5M handles so much better with the AWD. The transmission is not a double clutch, but operates exactly like the DCT system in the M5.

It does roll backwards in Drive without the foot on the brake or with auto-hold on, nearly hit the Prius behind me testing that theory.

You cannot shift it into park, you "park" the same as the M5 with the parking brake on or powering off in drive... That is going to take some getting used to for sure rather than the top gear shift button.

Dry pavement, you are 100% right, not a chance. Every day Colorado driving, every day. All relative to how/where you drive.

Here in the U.S., our production order numbers are 7 digits. You can try calling BMW Customer Relations at 1-800-831-1117 and enter your production order number to see if it's accurate.

You may well be able to track it online using the US site also. I'd bet the underlying computer system isn't smart enough to check whether it's a production number assigned to the US market

You need to sign up for a "My BMW" account, but once you've done that you should be able to add your production number.

Test drove X5M today...

Black on Black Extended (not full leather), 21 inch wheels

Very nice stance. Interior with common M theme (buttons, shifter, wheel, HUD). Seats very cool looking. Mostly comfortable (except a seam on seat adjoining non-perf to perforated leather you can kinda feel on your bottom).
Very quiet inside. Throttle response very good...was the first thing I noticed. Of course sound picks up when on throttle and a nice farty exhaust noise on gear shift. Responsive steering. Suspension even in Sport + is not too aggressive (compared to my Jeep SRT in regular mode). Overall, I liked it and want one.

LOL! I was there today and was told the X5M was sold on Saturday.

Yes, I'm keeping my M3, trading in the X5.

I ordered mine back in July and picked it up one week ago today. Traded in my M6 GC and couldnt be happier to be back into an SUV.

It had been sitting at the port in Oxnard (just 60 miles away) since early January awaiting retail release, longest wait ever!

Thanks. Will post some pics later today.

Specs:

Carbon Black Metallic
Silverstone Full Merino Leather
Carbon Fiber
All options with exception of night vision.

The ride is spectacular. Living in rural Los Angeles with pot holes all over the place the ride coming from M6 GC is much smoother.
