Pilot SuperSports on a X5M? . I feel that's a bad choice for a SUV type vehicle.
I used to have a X6 with the 315 Dunlop Sport Maxx's. Driving in snow was not fun at all. |

I know what some people have said here, but I like this...I think it looks muscular....looks like a solid "M" car....

To me it just does not look different enough from the M-sport to notice it is a X5M. I would have to double and triple look to notice it.

That's why BMW "suggests" that the tires are not meant for Winter driving. I have a dedicated Winter set up for my current X5 since the stock tires are Summer Performance. I've already ordered my set of Winter wheels/tires from BMW for my X5M. I'll be ready for next Winter.

BMW is also all over the places when it comes to tires. The first generation X5/X6 M's came with the Bridgestone Duelers, which are all season rated. However, regular X5/X6 with the 20in optional wheels only had the Dunlops. Don't get me wrong, it was awesome to take turns in that car, especially for its size. However, it's silly when the M3 next to it is wearing the same rubber... I'm not sure if this is the "summer tire" option they offer with certain wheel choices. If that's the standard tire for that model, then it's just a disappointing decision by BMW. |

Really really wish bmw gave this real stretched fenders. This looks exactly like my M sport X5 besides the M cues, front and rear bumper, and exhaust naturally.
I mean yes the engine and inner workings are tweaked but it's not M car special IMO

This is an ///M, not a no line. If it came with anything less than high performance summer tires, it would be disgusting. Why buy all that power and limit the performance with inadequate tires? Who buys an ///M for mountain trails? It's one thing to disagree with the whole premise of an ///M SUV, that's a different point entirely, if that's what you're really getting at... but IMHO it's just silly to say a car with all of those performance upgrades should fall short where the car meets the road. |

The rear needs more pronounced fender flares IMHO. Doesn't look as beefy as my e70 with M pack. Not convinced yet.

Have people stopped whining about the little boomerang thing that started on the 4 series?
That was all I would hear about, now it's largely accepted it seems.

If your driving these types of cars in a winter summer climate, there is no reason you should not be running summer/winter setups. I have always said, much cheaper having two sets of wheels with optimal traction. For the winter, it's not the going, it's the stopping and avoiding the other people. Winter wheels are cheaper than repairing your BMW and the diminished value and safer. I have been running winter /summers on every car/sav/SUV since 2002 and it's 100% the way to go. Take 2% of the purchase price and make it happen
