Frequent tire punctures in brand new 2017 x5m factory 21 in tires
My 2017 x5m only has 5000miles so far and the stock 21 in Michelin tire already has multiple punctures in two separate tires causing slow pressure leak. The tires appear very soft. Close visual inspection revealed several other small debris stuck within the surface of the actual rubber, not talking about the tread groove either. At this rate I suspect I'll soon suffer puncture wounds in the remaining two tires. Has anyone else noticed the same problem? I'm beginning to think my specific tires have a manufacture flaw.

Both my current and previous M have been prone to punctures. Those monster rears pick up everything. Nails, screws, you name it. But it's always been in the tread and not in the "meat" of the tire.

Yes the road hazard plan is well worth the money. But yea the wider the tire the more likely you are to pick up more road debris. Being non-runflat though you can have them repaired/patched from the inside.

I know this sounds obvious, but any chance you live/drive near any developments/construction? My previous car went through 4 or 5 repair or replacements secondary to living in a developing neighborhood (sloppy nails and debris on the road).

They are summer tires designed to grip - the issue with frequent punctures is purely statistical as a result of their huge girth x miles driven x degree of crap on the roads. Everyone more or less has the same issue. I try to be cognizant of road debris as mush as possible however it's impossible to avoid everything.

I had many nails in my last three cars that all had PSS tires. They are soft and prone to picking up lots of stuff. Wheel and tire warranty FTW! Still the best tires I've ever had. I still have my old 4.8is and that came with Michelin Diamaris tires that would last maybe 10k miles lol. PSS's could potentially last 18k to 20k or more if they don't get punctured. Always opt for the warranty!

In all M cars I've bought, I have always had tire and wheel insurance. It's well worth the money for these cars since the tires are so expensive.

Ive had about 5 punctures, courtesy of a nearby building development and negligent builders covering the road in nails. Very annoying especially as BMW was keen to always replace instead of repair these tires, and even wanted both fronts replaced "for safety".

Hi All
105 miles on the clock from picking up my new car and this - IMG_1015 by John, on Flickr Screw goes fat end in first. Too close to edge for repair so new tyre at BMW prices as no locking wheel nut socket supplied with car to remove the wheel, so had to be trailered away to dealer - unbelievable. |

July 2018 update: three tire punctures so far. The latest was in May. Picked up a massive bolt. I could hear the top of it pounding into the asphalt. Then it flew out right before I arrived to work. I had a one centimeter hole that dropped the tire. Flatbedded to the dealer.

Paranoia all the time. It takes away from the pleasure of driving these beasts. I check my TPMS religiously, every day when I hear something that sounds like a nail but usually is a small stone or whatever. One morning about a month ago I'm walking around my car and the drivers side rear had a nail protruding so that I could see it. Went inside the garage got a pair of pliers and yanked it out waiting to hear sssssssssssssssssssssss, but nothing. The nail was bent into the tire with no damage.

Yes! I have four patches on my rear passenger tire. These must have magnets in between the tread!
