Bad Differential! Got questions
Car started making a howling noise and speed and after some research and possible confirmation from my shop I took the car into the dealership.
I get a call today confirming from the dealer a bad diff. They are starting to state my larger 22’ Wheels could of caused the problem. I am not sure how this is even related as my wheels are forged and lighter than the stock. All rolling diameters are within torelance. I don’t know much about the topic and wondering if bigger Wheels had any chance of causing this. Car has around 37k miles. Not one launch control launch and Car is driven pretty easily compared to my M4 Other question which I need to research is when does the dealer change or check the diff oil. Service guy stated they didn’t open and check oil levels and probably didn’t even open the diff yet. He just stated they didn’t see any leaks Any help would help |

Check your Manual for differential oil replacement intervals. It’s possible they should have serviced it at an earlier VS.
If your OD , width and offset are within factory specs, the wheel/tire issue is BS. I hate dealerships that go there. No excuses for that. |

They should have done a diff oil change at 1200 break in service. I know they did on mine. I also have 22" wheels and I do not have a problems with the diff.

The wheel argument is BS. Tell them to take a flying leap.
Either you have a manufacturing defect (possible, nothing coming off an assembly line is 100% perfect/guaranteed) or maybe the diff. fluid change wasn't done. Have the dealer check their database and see if the diff fluid was changed at the 1200 service.
