Does retrofitting 50i dual piston caliper to 35d or 35i needs coding?
Im looking to upgrade my brakes on my 35d to the 50i dual caliper brake with larger rotors, I know the M Sport Brake upgrade kit has to be coded in to have it working properly, but does the 50i dual caliper brake needs to be coded or can I just install the hardware and be good without coding.

Since the caliper is larger it changes the ABS parameter to increase the brake pressure, some members noted that there were significant improvement in braking after coding.

Shameless plug: if you haven't already picked up your brakes, I will have a complete 50i setup available in the near future (front and rear calipers, pads, rotors).

also to answer the question im pretty sure that no coding is needed to just go to 50i. to MPBK or F85 then yes

No coding needed to make them work, but needed to make them work right. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway, it's up to you.

I've just made a small research and there are over 50 coding parameters different from 35i to 50i. Obviously brakes are mechanical, they will just work. But coding intended to fine tune how DSC module work, so I will say that coding is highly recommended if you want your brakes to work how BMW designed them to work.

And here are the configuration parameters - you can compare and analyze them for yourself.

DSC_Premium > Allgemein 3000 > Variante_Bremssattel_hinten = FN-AL 44 / 24 / 345
DSC_Premium > Allgemein 3000 > Variante_Bremssattel_vorne = 2FN 42 / 36 / 365 Looks like i'll have to get me E-sys and code that in. |

Yep, those are the most obvious ones But I guess the others are used to fine tune system pressure, as well as ABS and DSC - so I think it's better to change a vehicle type to 50i, which is "KR63" and code the module.

Not sure about coding KR63, as it’s denoting for Powertrain rather then just brakes.
